The 4J Studios port of Mojang’s world-building PC title, Minecraft, has now sold more than 2 million units. “I guess I can officially mention Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has crossed 2,000,000 in sales on XBLA!!” Chris Charla, portfolio director of Xbox Live Arcade excitedly tweeted earlier today. The game previously blew away Xbox Live Arcade sales records by selling more than a million copies in less than one week, an astonishing feat. It seems that Minecraft has no interest in slowing down any time soon.

This is actually only the only none call of duty title to ever pass black ops on the activity chart. If it is able to pass Modern Warfare 3, it and halo reach will be the only games ever to pass the newest COD titles since MW2 came out.

This is excellent news! I'm not too hyped for the game, but it shows variety in gamers & proof that unique games can be as successful as anything else.

For curiosities sake, this reminds me of Journey. Id like to compare sales numbers.

As much as I love Journey I expect its sales to be more comparable to Fez, which just crossed 100,000.
The 3 year hype surrounding Minecraft makes it an entirely different beast.

On a similar note, was there any sales news on Trials Evolution?

It was over half a million 3 weeks after release.
Then there's this other little game that had a billion downloads recently, and 10 million in 3 days for a sequel.
Minecraft might surpass Angry birds in profit though.
