Forums - Gaming - Sony is admitting they copied super smash bros

I wish the would have copied it fully, gameplay looked like a spam fest.
And put a limit to tooth's mines for god's sake.

I'm not entirely sure why people think copying other games is so bad.

99% of games out there start with "this or these games are our inspiration. What did they do right and what can we do better?"

Well OK, but this is just the icing on the cake. For Jesus' sake, Battle Royale looks exactly like a SSB ripoff, I'm sorry!

Nonsense. Sony's game has compatibility between their console and their handheld. Totally new.

Except for the part where the WiiU and 3DS are supposed to be connected/compatible with each other:

l0l they changed it, guess the person who uploaded the videos for them is gonna lose their job.

Maybe they got tired of all the email saying HEY! and the newest buzz is "original content" rather than "We also have it".  I have seen so much "We also have it, I might as well ducttape my 360, PS3 and Wii together, because they are all about to become one and the same.  I should also duct tape my cheap tablet to it also, because gaming now on will require a second screen when playing on a big screen.

They took it down.
So here you go! http://i.imgur.com/XCO9k.png

Not sure what your on but ok. o.o

They changed it after seeing that they have over 1400 dislikes and that each time you F5 the page, they get around 5-6 dislikes lol.

What the heck is the dislike for?  Ok, maybe Nintendo fans fragged it.  But if it is from Sony fans, what gives here?  Are they being upset at the idea that Sony is copying someone else?

What I am on is copy rage.  I am getting bored by the blanding of consoles by everyone copying everyone else.    And I went over the top because I could.

There's a difference between taking inspiration from something and basically reskinning a game. It honestly looks like they just upscaled brawl and reskinned characters. The fact they had Brawl in their office and are now tagging videos to try and direct people searching for SSB to their game is just the icing on the cake. I don't think even gameloft do that do they?

I've seen people say ''Oh well there isn't a lot you can do'' but the party fighter genre has a lot of empty gaps. It's not like kart racing where honestly it is difficult to make something that is too different to Mario Kart. Personally I would have liked to have seen a power stone style game. I think it would work better with Sony's characters.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

To bad they already change it, oh well here it is for everyone to see

Sony: Make Believe we have Original Ideas.

That isn't just Sony.

What you are witnessing is the winding down of this generation, gearing up for the next, where the Big 3 decided they need to copy each other on everything.  Nintendo decides they need their own controller for the Wii U that looks like its twist on the 360 and PS3 versions, which are nearly the same, except for the analog stick placement.  You have Microsoft doing Smart Glass, which is to foil WiiU.  Sony does Super Smash Bros.  Microsoft is to release a game I swear is AT MINIMUM inspired by Shadow of the Collosus, and another one that looks like it got justified because of Angry Birds.

And no Megatons!  I am bored.

I couldn't agree more. But the WiiU thing just looks like the Classic Controller of the Wii. I guess it's just meant for people who don't want to use the Gamepad or the Wii Remotes and rather just prefer the classic way of gaming.

I agree it's a pretty shameless ripoff but, again, it's not that big of a deal. SSBB was an amazing game, is it so bad we get another?

Its obvious Sony isn't trying to reinvent the wheel, they're just trying to fill a whole in their catalog and make a good game.  Can't really fault them for that.
