Windows mobile OS has a tiny market share, and I can't see people buying a new device for this functionality, nor can I see developers sinking too much time supporting it.

True, but the number of people with a Windows Phone and Xbox 360 likely already more than what the Wii U will have by this time next year.  Not to mention you dont need a Windows Phone or Windows 8 Tablet.

Not to mention that you can control netflix with it, which is unprecedented and revolutionary. Microsoft just made glass smart, and it's like they reinvented the remote control. i can't wait to play black ops 2 with my iphone, that's gonna be so sick, is the glass gonna be that smart? looks like wii u tablet is dead on arrival.

I haven't watched the video but....

Did the Kinect make Wii irrelevant? No.

Is the wii still relevant?

Nah, the wii only sold 100 million units, it's not relevant at all.....

We were discussing post-kinect release. ;P

Oh yeah that's right, kinect made the wii irrelevant, i forgot all about that. it's kind of like an apple making an orange irrelevant, right?

The only thing that can make Wii U relevant or irrevelant is the games. Will I be able to play Mario, Metroid and Zelda, Kriby, Donkey Kong and Smash Bothers on any device using Xbox Smart Glass?

Proof that Nintendo really shoul just make games and hardware accessories.

No. That means that people buy gaming systems to play games on it. Be it Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo or the Pope. If Microsoft launches an eight cores, dual sticks, four shoulder buttons, back touch panel and front capacity touch screen with 3D output portable game device it means that the Vita is irrelevant? No. Because I want to play Uncharted, Gravitity Rush, LBP and killzone on my handheld.

My point is that for 2 generations it appears that Nintendo is releasing underpowered consoles that what makes them different is the fact they have a different type of control.  There is nothing that the Wii did that could not have been done on the PS3 or 360 with Nintendo releasing a controller with the game.   Now with the Wii U to play the next Mario you need tp purchase an underpowered console that has a new control scheme.  Why not simply make the new controller and have it work with more powerful consoles.

It seems that for you the most important aspect of a gaming console is the power (feel free to correct me if I am wrong). For me the most important part are the games. I just don´t care the power or the specifications of a console if I can have fun with the games. For that reason the Nintendo DS, the original playstation and the PS2 are my favorite gaming systems ever. All three were underpowered compare to the other systems of their generation. The first Xbox could make everything that the PS2 could do, and it could do it better. Also it could do things that the PS2 could not do. That made the PS2 irrelevant? no. Why? Because (in my opinion) the games are what makes the system successful, not the hardware.

yeah let's forget that you need buttons and joysticks to play games properly

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Why look at such a small window. Long term wise, kinect contributed to the Wii's declining relevancy.

btw- mark my words, when black ops 2 is released on the wii u at launch, and you can control drones and stuff with the tablet- all the nintendo haters are going to be running out to buy it.

No it did not.

"Did Microsoft just make Nintendo's Wii U irrevelant?" This thread is already saying the fact that it could be irrelevant yet it was just announced. That's quite the small-window.

Totally correct, i mean let's take a long term wise approach - wii sold like 100 million units...360 sold like 70 million....therefore, 360 = more relevant.
