What if the future of Playstation Plus is that it takes online multiplayer from the free service? Unlikely, but it sure would help Sony get out of the red.

Are you serious? Making online gaming a paid service will not net Sony billions of dollars per year. The PlayStation division is making a profit btw.

I agree, they should charge. It might piss people off but it would be good business sense really. Not like everyones gonna sell there console. That said I don't expect them to do it this gen if at all they will do it next gen.

You have no idea what good business sense means then. Charging for everything is not a good business sense.

It's almost certainly the Gaikai deal.

They're not going to take a service that used to be free (online multiplayer) and start charging for it, because that is PR suicide.

Gaikai will probably be part of it but it will be more than just that, I think. They were doing marketing surveys to see what people would want from PS+. I expect they'll try to better define what PS+ will be going forward, something more specific than just "whatever we feel like putting up that month".

Agreed. Making PSN pay to play out of the blue would surely effect software sales in a negative way. It would most likely hurt them more than help them.

omg even more for ps+.... It would be awesome to have some sort of Gaming-TV wich streams all new trailers and has some moderators on that talk only about games and have interviews with all kinds of people, and news and etc....!!! That would be totally cool

So far PS+ hasn't been worth it if you prefer your games in retail boxes. I quit my membership after 3 months. I refuse to download a game I could have in a nice physical box (and besides, my 120GB is already filled just from the mandatory installs of retail games. I have to constantly uninstall games). And PSN has much less Arcade style games than Xbox Live, games that you simply can't get in a retail box.

I hope they make PS+ to make sense (cloud gaming is not that. I want to own my games) but more than that I hope they could add more games to PSN (such as older Arcade games like Gauntlet and Capcom collection and stuff).

How should that be done? Most people who have it think it makes sense.

i think all this "never stop playing" is a hint for streaming because if you don't have a game at home and are bored, just stream one. to the rest: no clue^^

I thought I quoted someone by using the words "make sense" but actually they were refering to business sense lol. Badgenome described it as better defining what PS+ is, I guess that's what I meant. And to make PS+ more attractive.

The PSN echosystem with free online is far better than Xbox Live I think, which is a rip off. I just wanted to add that.

Discounts and early access to demos and stuff ain't a bad thing but PS+ will be a fringe thing unless they make something "Must Have" with it.

Actually it wouldnt make a dent.

Free online multiplayer on PSN is the greatest asset the playstation has versus the Xbox in terms of hardware.

Also, the servers arent nearly as expensive as microsoft has you believe to convince you to pay them for it. The service you get of online gaming for a couple of years is not worthy of a monthly fee. Microsoft should be the one changing it, not the other way around. The costs are minimal.

Seriously, look a the price of skyrim on Xbox live. Its a whooping 70 euros in europe for a digital download. Yes digital download with no physical distribution costs and no 2nd hand sale. You'd think it would be cheaper than normal retail... thats microsoft for you. They literally RAPE you for your money. And thats what they are doing with Xbox live monthly/annual fee.
