Soooo looks like Nokia shoulda gone with Linux.

Ive played with a windows phone and they are nice, but looks like there screwed, marketshare below linux? Ive never even heard of a linux phone.

for me, the iphone screen is just way too small. no clue how i could pay so much for an iphone with maybe better apps to get this small screen for so much money and i couldn't enjoy the apps because of the small screen. my first android had 4" and i thought it was too small (and i only knew smaller screens before). playing the games or using the apps with the touchscreen and there is a big part of the screen just for your fingers. the iphone has still a 3.5" screen, the apps can be as good as they are, i have no (or not so much) fun with them with such a screen size. and surfing on the internet (that's what i use my phone most for) is even on a 4.3" screen not perfect, but way better than on a 3.5" screen.

when i saw the galaxy s3 announcement i thought that screen will be too big but since i saw that the phone itself isn't much bigger than the galaxy s2, i don't think like this anymore about that screensize. and i like super amoled more than retina.

and what's important as well, even the expensive android phones are cheaper than an iphone and i really see no difference in other things. some milliseconds faster here or there between some phones isn't so important for me. all these browser discussion and so on are useless because no one needs the standard browser. so yeah, only apps and screen make important differences for me and there i would decide for a minimum 4.3" screen nowadays

Because it wasn't the others.

Every other company has an inherant flaw in it.

IOS - One form factor. If you don't like it, or the price, or the carrier, you're screwed. Great device, but not everyone wants the exact same phone and form factor.

BB - Multiple form factors, crummy OS for mainstreet users. Always known as a business-class phone. Had its market share ripped away when other devices that were comparable came out. Also, not the cheapest device, either. Their app store is about 2 years behind both Android and IOS.

Windows Mobile - No one really trusts Windows outside of PCs. Additionally, they've mostly been behind the curve. Windows 7 was too late.

Ultimately, Android hits that sweet spot that gets users from every quadrant. Some are cheap. Some are nice. Some have keyboards. Some do not. You can get them on every carrier. The store is nowhere near as good as iTunes, but is arguably better than the rest. It does nothing phenomenally well, but does everything that the rest of the big three do not.
