Forums - General - Who lives in or around Seattle WA?

I need info VGCers. What are the best and worst areas? What are the high and low income regions? What are the worst commute options and best school districts? Crime rates, etc? How many days a year do you have to dig your car out of the snow to go to work?

If you live in Seattle or the various cities/suburbs in that area PLEASE give me any info, advice, warnings, etc.

Stay as far south as possible. Trust me, you don't want to get very close to the canadian border.

You do not have to worry about finding nice areas to live, they are everywhere. Just call a realator and they will tell you. I would have to know how far from Seattle you wanted to move before I could help.

If I move, I'll be working in the redmond area. I would hope to keep my commute to 30mins or less... but for a nice area that is not an arm+leg I'll go up to an hr.

Not sure if serious. I currently live an hour from the Mexican border. I've never heard of anything regarding Canadian border. Are the areas/suburbs north of Seattle really crime ridden or something?

I just moved to Kirkland at the beginning of the year, which is just north of Redmond. It's a nice area, but don't know about schools since I have no kids. It's about a 15 minute drive there with no traffic (can be about 45 min with traffic). The main thing is the traffic that sucks in Seattle / Eastside area in general.

We have usually one big snow every 2 years or so from what I've heard. In January, we got about a foot overnight - but that was really the only time. Mostly just lots of rain. I'd actually prefer snow over rain (I lived in Bozeman, MT as well which gets tons of snow).

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

I was looking at kirkland area. Any idea on crime or income levels of that area?

Enjoy the rain! I haven't lived there, so I can't tell you much about crime, but I can tell you my favorite restaurant there.

You must eat fish and chips at Ivars. If you have left over french fries they encourage you to feed them to the seagulls!

I do not want to disappoint you superchunk, but it is not all like the show "The Killing" on AMC. Crime is not too bad.

lol I know its not a unsafe place. However, given a choice I will choose the higher income lower crime better schools areas.
