Right now I don't have a link to the story but I'll get one soon.
This story was reported not too long from now on Fox News. It's about a former Midway employee named Patrick goschy (I would have never gotten that name right) that claims to have several patents for his inventions that he created during his time as a game developer for Midway. One of these patents included a very wii like device where he had video proof that it was indeed made well before the wii existed *8 years to be exact*. Since I don’t have a link right now I’m going to try a recall what happed:In this said video was him demonstrating his invention with a prototype boxing game similar to wii sports. He seemed very enthusiastic about the invention and was confident he would bring it out in the near future.
Edit4: I have the real link now check it out if you're interested.

Now guys what do you make of this. It seems legit to me, although the second time I saw this it had some Similarities to the Wii but it didn’t look all that much like it... Ok nowhere near it sorry but it's a prototype so I don't no. And to throw salt on the wound Nintendo proved that they were indeed working on the Wii idea before the GCN launched.
Edit: I haven't looked at the official report yet but I assume I got most of the Early information correct.
