Wheres the Others attach rate? It would raise the PS3's overall attach rate.

"Others" data on this site apparently isn't that reliable or complete. How do you know data from "Others" would raise the PS3's attach rate? Where is your data from?

Who said the numbers weren't reliable? Where else are you gonna get data that is supposed to be more accurate?

Wait... who cares about attach rates anymore... look at those Wii sales. The Wii sold more software in it's first 13 months then the PS3 and 360 combined.... Yowza's!

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Attach rates are just there to help people feel better about their system of choice and its perceived popularity with the gaming community at large. They don't really tell you anything, since the number of people who own exactly the number of games that the attach rate suggests are very few (when rounding up/down appropriately; it's kind of hard to own a .8th of a game).

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

It's funny that I can't find anyone who has said it, but I know many people have. Regardless, the site showed data for less than 50 titles per week until November. It also doesn't have software totals, so I don't have any data to use.

I don't think there is anywhere else where I can get data that is more accurate. Therefore, I just omitted "Others" data entirely and made it explicit. It would be different if I had simply posted the attach rate as a single number for each console, not showing how I arrived at it.

I'll admit it; I did this as a response to "MEANINGFUL Attach Rate Comparisons!!!" This is also part of the reason why I omitted "Others" data (the creator of "MEANINGFUL Attach Rate Comparisons!!!" did this as well).

Ya but obviously attach rates mean diddly squat. If you outsell your competitor on games and hardware but have a lower attach rate because your hardware sells that much better then a competitor then the attach rate of your console means diddly. You just proved why attach rates are silly. The Wii has a lower attach rate then the 360 but blew it out of the water with sales.

I agree with you to an extent, but I also agree with Sky Render. Seeing that the 360 had a higher attach rate than the Wii or PS3 13 months after launch made me feel good. So attach rates do have a purpose.

Also, it is important to ask why you are comparing two systems anyway. If you want to see which would be most attractive to a third party developer (i.e., most likely to get more games), then look at total third party sales. If you want to see which company is doing best, then look at total hardware and total first party software. There are other things to look at, but you are most likely to look at what favors your system of choice, if you look at all.
