Forums - Microsoft - “Next big thing,” from Kinect will come as developers gain more experience with it, says Tsunoda

VG247

Microsoft’s Kudo Tsunoda has said the “evolution of existing features as well as the invention of new ones,” from Kinect will come from its current model and not Kinect 2, as developers become more experienced using current tech.

Speaking with VentureBeat, Tsunoda said “the next big thing,” will come as developers “get better and better at working with Kinect.”

“I think that waiting for the next big thing isn’t about waiting for the Kinect 2,” he said. “It’s more about all the great invention that can be done in software without having to go out and spend money on a new device.

“I think right now we’re in an area where you’re going to start seeing some amazing Kinect experiences based on things like using voice or using full body or using identity. And then I think going forward you’re going to see a lot more people really blending all of the different features of Kinect together to build some really rich and immersive new types of experiences.

“I think that’s why you see Kinect branching off into all different genres of games now. It’s because developers are able to do more with the technology as they’ve become more experienced in working with it.”

“It’s not where you have to wait for Kinect 2 for something to be different as much as the more that we’re able to play with Kinect and update Kinect over time, all of the capabilities in all different types of scenarios, we’re going to keep pushing.”

Tsunoda has talked previously on the possibility of future Kinect tech being able to sense tone of voice and and body stance.

"I think..." "I Think..." "I Think"...

Doesnt seem to have alot of confidence. :s

I'm sorry, I love the 360, but MS is simply trying to make the Kinect seem like something it isn't. From my point of view, any effort MS puts into the Kinect is effort that should be used to create AAA games.

I think the best use of Kinect is in the hands of indies.Just set up a kinect area xbla where indie devs can use the kinect into unique styles of gameplay

As a tool for multimedia functionality, Kinect succeeds.

As controller device for videogames, it fails miserably.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

it's pretty funny because it sounds like they never did that, but actually they did,and did it long time, just people don't buy it

and people keep saying Kinect is fail for game just because they released so game they don't like lol

Microsoft has said a lot of things about Kinect, like how Milo would revolutionize user interaction. Where's Milo Microsoft?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I would wager we haven't seen the end of Milo. It was ambitious to say the least, but I expect sooner or later that Microsoft will be able to put all the pieces together. That would be some amazingly powerful educational software. I think Milo is setting up shop on the next box. Just saying Microsoft isn't likely to discard such a powerful concept as that easily.

what does he mean "next"?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

The market isn't ready for it, the amount of emotional depth needed to interact with such a project is just too much for people to take.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.
