Went to see it for my anniversary (12/23) and absolutely loved it. Missing some bits from the show, but in a film the narrative has to take priority and nothing that was removed really hurt the story (though I would have liked some coda acknowleging Joanna's future).

Unfortunately WB seems befuddled about the marketing, and been hiding the fact that it's a musical as best as it can (with JUST enough singing to say it's not). If Little Shop of Horrors could bring in big bank 20 years ago when musicals were DEAD, there's no reason this shouldn't be able to find it's audience.

It sure looks weird but with Johnny Depp, the weirder, the better!

I find quite a few people went into Sweeney Todd not knowing it was a musical. I hate going into movies not knowing anything about them.

waiting till it comes out on dvd. Should like it. Haven't seen a musical i have disliked.

I'm not a fan of musicals.... would that ruin the whole movie for me? or anyone who's not a fan of musicals.

@gebx: no, it will not. I hate musicals, too, and the first couple minutes had me thinking about leaving, but the tone of the singing really adds to the 'somethings-not-quite-right-with-these-people' vibe.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

What do you mean don't watch it when you are dperesses? It will make youmore depressed?

I'm keeping that typo there because that's the cool thing to do in this thread.

It's a very dark film. And don't expect a happy ending, either.

Oh, I like happy movies.
