Forums - Gaming - What's your worst game file loss story?

Cloning on Pokemon Silver and I lost a 250 hour save file, complete with level 99 Mew (not hacked or anything), good times.

I don't have a whole lot of those stories, as I try to keep multiple copies of my saves.

But, once I had been playing skyrim of my first save file, level 30, and I saved over it with a new file. I was pretty upset, but since then I made a new one and gotten it to level 53. And then when I upgraded my HDD on my ps3, the level 30 save file somehow miraculously reappeared in my save files. I think it was because I had copied that file onto the flash drive which I used to restore all my save files foreign he new HDD.

Also, I was playing Wind Waker, and I'd gotten very closets the end, when my memory card disappeared. To this day I have not found it.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

I was level 70 when playing Final Fantasy 9. Nearing end game. My friend wanted to borrow my Playstation so I lent it to him. And he accidentally saved over that file.

The same friend lost my Icewind Dale Trilogy and The Dark Elf Trilogy books.

So I got mad, and replayed Final Fantasy 9 again. Got to level 60+. Some of my friends came over to play the playstation and somehow, that same guy saved over my Final Fantasy 9 again.

Till today I havent completed FF 9. I watched the ending on Youtube. Really F**K MY LIFE because FF9 is one of the best according to alot of people.

My pokemon Crystal was corrupted! and my 1st Gen poke was there too :(

Mario Kart Wii for some reason when moving files across to the sd card i deleted the 100% file, can't be bothered completing it again.

He's been crying in his room blaming Nintendo, Zelda, and God for the last 30 mins.

I lol'd hard... :)

Anyways, I fortunately have not had very bad save file woes.  The only two games it happened with was Wario Land on GB and Super Metroid.  The former did hurt a little because I was at end of the game and I had collected all the treasure up until that point.  I was halfway through Super Metroid when a friend of mine wanted to show his brother how cool the game was with all save slots occupied.  So he deleted my game (leaving his and our other friend's save intact).  I walked into the room and asked him how he was on the Space Station when all save game slots were occupied.  At that time, I knew he deleted something... and I knew it was mine.  What a douche!

Both times I lost my Ps3 to the yellow light of death. All my save files lost. This current time is the worst as I lost my almost 150 hours on Skyrim. I want the downloadable content so I will have to buy a 360 copy and replay it. At least, it is a super great game and I can play differently, but losing that file blows big time.

Losing RPG save files really hurts your feelings. I don't ever want to experience that... especially since I love hanging on to old save files with the tons of hours and accomplishments they show.

lol mine was with a pokeon game to on a handheld it got deleted somehow all that work that i had done it sucked

My 60gb ps3 died in the summer of 2009. Things lost:

Demon's Souls - Just hit ~100 hours into my first playthrough.
Final Fantasy XII - About 20 hours in.
Valkyria Chronicles - Halfway through.

And a bunch of already completed games, like Uncharted, Resistance, Final Fantasy X (this one just hit me ;_;), MGS1/2/3/4 (all of them were beaten the first time on that ps3!).

That's why I'm now a Plus subscriber and have all my ps3 saves backed up in the cloud. If only I could back up ps1/2 saves as well. But I guess that's becoming less of a big deal with all the HD classics that are coming out.
