The only reason most of the younger gaming audience has heard of Mother is from Smash Bros, and I can't imagine them caring about the release of it in the West. It's a shame, but it seems as if a game isn't going to sell 5 mill+, then why bother releasing it at all?

I am a huge earthbound fan and know all about starmen.net and its general history. It's not happening. You realize even if Nintendo wanted to make it (which there is no incentive whatsoever), Itoi (the creator) does not want there to be ANY more sequels.

Ontop of that Itoi, Satoru, and Miyamoto are all good friends so they wouldn't violate his wish for the series to be over.

That being said, I love Earthbound to death and can't wait to play Mother 3, and maybe Mother 1. I could play Mother 3 on my PC but there is always a little lag to throw off the main feature of the game, which is the times musical hits.

I would have thought developing his own character based IP from scratch was something he enjoyed...

what a weird thing to say. It sounds like he'd rather go on making Smash Bros. for eternity instead of doing something original...

OT: haven't played Mother, can't say either way. I know almost nothing about the story or gameplay but the characters seem cool and offbeat in a way I wish more games were. Same goes for the setting and music, at least to the best of my knowledge (which is very little).

Wouldn't mind more games with that kind of style and charm. Wouldn't mind that at all. And if the gameplay and writing is as amazing as people say it is, then by all means, find a way to bring it over.
