I think you're going to need a flame suit

Let's just say that some will go on about this until the end of the earth!

...Kwaad!

Good to see this site is still going

I wish I could still find the it but about a year after the launch of the XBox and Gamecube there was an article that talked about the demographics of various gaming systems; at the time the Gameboy Advance (followed closely by the Gameboy) had the largest percentage of adult gamers as compared to any other system.  The interesting thing about the Gamecube was that it had more adult gamers (as a percentage) than either the XBox or PS2 but had the smallest (by a long shot) percentage of teenage and young adult (up to 21) gamers.

I have noticed that there are a lot of gamers over a certain age (I would say somewhere between 25 and 30 currently) who were active gamers and old enough when the Playstation came around that the 'kiddie' thing never really bothered them.

Nintendo's launch will no doubt be higher in adults than the balance of the system's life. People keep talking about how they're targetting new markets, but I'm not buying. Nintendo's getting the people who owned previous Nintendo systems more than anything else for the time being.

Another difference in demographics of today's gamers versus the 80's version is that today's are a little older, b/c we've grown up with them, and it's just another thing that people stick with into adulthood.

All I'm saying is that people who were gaming teens and adults prior to Nintendo being labeled "Kiddie" are largely going to be unaffected by it. On the other hand, people who ended up getting into gaming in the Playstation era are probably far more conserned.

not very thought out.

18 to 24 male, 18 to 34 what ?

I don't think some of those classifications are well thought out. The most obvious is DS.

Consider the best-selling software for DS. These titles include:

New Super Mario Bros.

Brain Age

Nintendogs

Final Fantasy III remake

Big Brain Academy

Animal Crossing: WW

Mario Kart DS

Super Mario 64

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl

You are saying the main focus is kids? I don't see a focus on one age group; seems like the best-selling games include those that are popular with kids (Pokemon), teens (Final Fantasy III) and adults (Brain Age).  That is in addition to the fact that games like NSMB, Animal Crossing and Mario Kart are popular with all age groups.
