Is Wii U a next-gen system? That’s what some people have been debating. One group will say no, while another will say yes. It doesn’t help that there are developers out there who are labeling the console as a stop gap in-between generations.

However, EA Sports general manager of football Cam Weber ultimately believes that the Wii U is a true next-gen system.

When Weber was asked by Game Informer if he really sees the system as a next-gen platform, he said:

“Absolutely. It’s a [new] platform with a new controller input, so we’ll do everything we can to deliver an experience that will take advantage of the hardware for that consumer.”

This. I still don't think that anyone really believes that the WiiU will be anything BUT next gen.

I might buy my first Nintendo console (not counting the 3DS) this holiday.

You gotta love the "great next gen debate". It's a new console so it's a next gen console. Debate over. Simples!

IMO people who claim the Wii or WiiU were not paty of the next gen are mostly haters. New console, it is part of the next gen, you may think it inferior but it is still part of the next gen.

It would be like saying a 2013 car saw no real improvements so it is really a 2012.

XD I know, people are too fixated on graphical advanceness (is that even a word) equating to next-gen rather than gameplay innovation, which the wii-u seems to be focusing on. 

I wonder how much of the "not next gen" talk comes from those who are "working" for the competition.

I mean firms and media ..not posting trolls.
