I also find it funny that they were like "you won't believe this, but the Earth's population should reach as high as 500 million people" - turns out they lowballed that one considerably

that number was for the US population, and it was a high estimate from them. Considering they also mentioned many more countries joining the union, I'd say it wasn't such a bad estimate.

on the other hand, a quick google search shows that they did manage to get the part about cars costing less than horses wrong

Aha fair enough then

They did really well with the bit about "a war could be happening in China and the news will be in the US within hours"

agreed. Also, the parts about air-conditioning in homes as well as vehicles surprised me.

LOL at walking ten miles. Way to go Americans, we really screwed up on that one!

They also failed to predict television, though came close by the telegraph at any distance. Given this revelation, it wouldn't have been hard to figure out the ten mile thing would never happen lol.

they did predict television. there's a paragraph about cameras connected to screens on the other side of the world...

Yeah, but not really what they expected. In fact, even in early television people were fit. Nobody realized how deadly tvs would eventually be even when they were in early use lol

wow this is fascinating, its just amazing what they fought the future would be... and that some of it was actually right. what the next 100 years hold? hovercars? spacecations? immunity to all diseases? a future without oil or coal? i want peace to happen

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

According to Back to the Future part II we should have flying cars and hoverboards in 3 years time.

We are already on our second spacestation (Mir was the first, the current being the ISS)

Total immunity would be brilliant of course, but it will cause other problems (if total immunity can be deployed worldwide there will be a massive resource shortage [mainly food] unless some other form of population control is implemented)

I think 100 years from now there won't be much choice about oil or coal. At least as the major source of energy it is now.

If only we had a De Lorean/Police call box/Phone booth/other form of time machine.
