that number was for the US population, and it was a high estimate from them. Considering they also mentioned many more countries joining the union, I'd say it wasn't such a bad estimate.

on the other hand, a quick google search shows that they did manage to get the part about cars costing less than horses wrong

They did really well with the bit about "a war could be happening in China and the news will be in the US within hours"

agreed. Also, the parts about air-conditioning in homes as well as vehicles surprised me.
