Forums - Nintendo - Growing doubts over Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U console

Yes, the Nintendo rehashes aren't enough. They need original third party games like Call of Duty, Assassins Creed and Final Fantasy before I jump on board.

It'll be very hard for Nintendo to follow in the footsteps of the Wii no matter what its successor is, the system broke records.

As for games like Mario, Link coming returning ad nauseam, I would say that they are also working on new IPs from Retro, which hired Naughty Dog ex creative staff, as well as from other companies, so there are things to look forwards to, as well as your usual Nintendo staple. And who knows what Monolith will come up with next? So yes the usual, and most likely some interesting new IPs from Nintendo's other big studios.

Analysts and the stock holders see a tablet and that's all. They don't realize.

Call of Duty and Madden players are core? My, how has the definition changed this generation.

But honestly, what I find most worrying for the WiiU is that rumour (has it been confirmed?) of only one tablet per console. Wii got were it got because of being a blast to play with family and friends, if you take that out...

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

COD is a casual game for what we know. It's mostly bought by non-traditional gamers.

But the one tablet per console is fine given that 4 wii-motes can also be connected to the Wii U to give a Rayman Legends like experience. It should be fun and exciting, even more than before. You're just adding, not subtracting.

This whole HARDCORE /CORE/CASUAL stuff is total bullshit. First of all I am a core gamer. And Nintendo never lost me.

They provided what they always did. Metroid Mario Zelda etc. These games were and still are hardcore to date. Everyone disagreeing should play Mario Galaxy and then play Black Ops Black Ops is EASIER and requires less BRAIN to finish than Mario is.
Just because Black Ops has Multiplayer with people that have no real life and hackers so you sometimes lose a game doesn't make it more hardcore than what Mario is. And the COD's singleplayer is just an EXTRA is just an excuse.

Just because the masses (that are usually dumb, thats why TV commercials etc. work.. think about it) listen to also dumb media that create words like hardcore and casual etc. doesn't make a former "hardcore" title like Mario/Mario Kart/Pokemon less hardcore than the so called new "hardcore games" like COD.

Sure the Wii had alot of casual games (most were published by? correct not nintendo) but I have like 40 games and only 3 of them are casual I just bought them because they came with a controller or bundled with the console. ( wii sports, wii play etc.)

Seriously I think everyone that is calling himself a hardcore gamer without seeing Zelda/Mario etc players as hardcore gamers are just little blood thirsty kids that can't stand color and walk around in black clothes all the time because they have to do what their "DO AS I DO OR YOU WONT BE MY FRIEND" friends do (of course only if they do have real life friends)

And about the WiiU  i am quite certain it wont be as successful as the Wii because  alot of former Wii players got a 360 or Ps3 by now also because they copied motion controls.  But even if the WiiU  will just sell as much as the N64 did I will be happy because the n64 had alot of great games. And i prefer 20-30 million people that have a brain and play good games over  99 million WiiU owners that are little kids that I have to avoid when I want to play online without drama

End Thanks for reading

Can I play every game on the tablet screen within the sanctity of my home? That's all I'm buying it for. Will it set the world alight like the Wii? Nope. But it won't fizzle like the GC. Especially when wiimotes and peripherals are compatible with it and it has 'Wii' for a prefix.

They posted a heavy loss because they did what Sony and Microsoft had been doing for years prior. Actually selling a product at a loss. Problem with this though is that Sony and Microsoft have other divisions to keep them afloat to incorporate such a pricing strategy until the product becomes profitable.

Of course mario zelda, kart, smash bros, star fox, pikmin, animal crossing fit sports and probably kid icarus now will come to the Wii U. oh wait aren't those the games that sell most?

I agree with your sentiment, but your premice is misplaced. There is such a thing as Core and Casual, the only question remaining is what game falls into what category, and do the two interweave (the answer is yes). Cod is in my book both core and casual, since skilled players and masses alike buy it.

The fact remains that the first year sales were higher than any other console in history.

And Nintendo lost money.

The Sega Saturn would have been the highest selling console in history if it was $1 too.

and sony and microsoft lost money on ps3 andxbox360, which still means that the 3ds is more successful in its first year than both of them...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
