It was funny that he mentioned Lair is his post, because those were all things said about that game before it was released.

Because it's an exclusive, which has become rare these days and because Americans LOVE FPS.
The first Killzone had potential, and now that Guerrilla has been bought by Sony, quadrupled in size, and has been given a 40 mil.+ budget, one can only be hopeful that the fruits of their labor will turn out well. The stunning E3 trailers we've seen thus far only increased that hope, pushing it into insane levels of hype for some.
It seems as if Sony is putting everything it has behind this game, and I'd like to think they have good reason to. Since Sony's 1st party stuff usually turns out great (Jak & Daxter, Gran Turismo, God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, etc. etc.), it doesn't seem to hard to believe that KZ2 could turn out great as well.
I don't know.... maybe because some people out there don't believe that a game being on an "evil" Sony console bars it from the possibility of actually being a good game? Look at UT3, I played it tonight, I've NEVER been good with FPS on computers because I couldn't get the WASD + Mouse motion right. But after playing UT3 tonight, I am convinced that FPS games can have both great graphics and great controls on the PS3. As far as this etherial "gameplay" concept that I hear all the Wii fanboys talk about, just because a game doesn't have you breathing into a microphone or flailing your arms around doesn't mean it isn't fun (and has good "gameplay").

After an extremely disappointing 2007, PS3 fans are pinning their hopes on anything they think will sell the system. Also, some people believe the Killzone series will be to Sony what the Halo series has been for Microsoft. I don't think it will sell terribly well.. probably on par with the PS3 Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted. Ok, but not enough to earn back the cost of production and promotion.

Your kidding right? Uncharted has more than payed for it's budget and will close over a million by the end of March.
Ratchet will break even too.
They want it to be Halo, an "ok" game that sells million. I like FPS, and I like the 360... the FPS I play on the 360 is not Halo, as I don't care about hype. I have played all three, and owned none of them.
Halo is a good game, but not great. Marketing made it the crazy success it was. If Halo came out with no marketing, it would have done well, but CoD4 would have crushed it.
Sony is hoping for the same thing here.
The only hyped game I've seen lately is Halo 3. I havent seen any pepsi/coke/gatoraide(pepsi) products with any gam,e titles on them lately.

No, I'm not kidding. Uncharted and R&C were both hugely budgeted games and R&C commercials ran nearly constantly here in the US. Unfortunately, Sony has not released these figures, so we'll never know for sure, but such games would likely have to sell a million to break even. There is still a chance (at 750k) Uncharted could do it, but with declining sales and no major holiday to prop it up -- that is unlikely. R&C has even further to go and sales of it are almost totally flat. Killzone 2 (from what I've read) has a much larger budget than either of those games -- yet will probably sell at a comparable rate, thus flopping.
Believe it or not, R&C commercials are STILL running every now and then.
The only thing killzone 2 has going for it consist of graphics and hype. And more hype revolving around graphics. From what little I've heard of Resistance 2 in like the 48 hours its been revealed, it sounds like it's going to be a MUCH better game than Killzone 2.

if the first killzone can sell 1 million and be a "bad" game as many say then why dont you think killzone 2 can as many reviewers said it played well and looked great plus R&C dont really apeal to the PS3 audience (Hardcore) and uncharted should break 1 Million aswell as Heavenly Sword
