Forums - Gaming - Dragon's Dogma Review

got my gamepro today (the german one not the one not available anymore) and they have a review about it. maybe you are interested:

Graphics: ps3 7/10 xbox 360 6/10

+ harmonius gameworld, character models

- flickering shadows, mushy textures, few details

ps 3 version is sharper and has better colors, 360 version runs a little bit more stable

Sound: 8/10 for both but i would say 9/10 if it would have german synchronisation in the german version

+ good soundtrack, soundeffects

- no german synchro so not necessary for most here^^

pros&cons

+ good fighting system, boss fights, vassals system

- a.i. problems, camera, long distances, no multi-player

conclusion:

solid rpg with innovative vassals sytem and weak technique (especially the 360 version)

79%

€dit: i changed "bad technique" in "weak technique", i think bad did sound worse than it is and worse than the german word means.

I loved the demo but this game screams co-op. i was so dissapointed when I found out it didnt have online.

They gave it a - because of no multiplayer?

yes they say it even has the alignment for multi-player but still doesn't have it. you can change vassals online with other people but you can't play together in the world? and like maverick says, it seems like it screams for that. just because it's some kind of rpg doesn't mean it needs no multi-player if it would be better with multi-player. if a game would be better with it but doesn't have it it deserves a - nowadays, we are in 2012 and not in 1992

but if you can live with it and the not so good technique it seems to be a nice game.

Waiting for IGN and Gamespot, everything else is just amateurish.

lol why? they have more experience than ign and gamespot together, they always have informations about games like halo 4 and so on nobody else has (at least from the huge american sites) because they get invites to the studios. some weeks ago they saw the first level of halo 4 and played some multi-player, what did ign do at that time?

I want this game!

Never seen games marked down due to them having no multiplayer. Especially RPGs.

It's all subjective, and the scores are largely meaningless. If you put too much weight into what these people tell you chances are you're missing out on some great experiences. If you enjoy reading in-depth, smart reviews then I recommend checking out eurogamer.net, I also like gametrailers.com. (I like gamespot as well, and I do read Ign, but they seem more geared towards fan service.)

I also recommend purchasing a game and playing it without ever reading a single review or preview, you would be surprised what it's like when you don't already have preconceptions running around your head.

I thought Gamepro was shut down?
