Forums - Microsoft - Could Microsoft make a Crossover Fighter

People are complaining there are too many guys with guns so here's an idea. Instead of Cross Over fighter why not a crossover shooting megamix? Think Timesplitters

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Ok, it's true that Sony doesn't have a lot of recognised characters, but Ratchet/Jak/Sly/Kratos/Drake, etc are all famous enough to have their own brawl game.
I don't think Microsoft has enough known character. Yes, there are Master Chief, Marcus from Gears...and then?
This two are more famous than any other Sony's characters, but they're just two!

Banjo Kazooie

I don't think Banjo Kazooie it's such a big franchise, it's just on a popularity level as Ratchet or Jak . The only big characters that I can think about are Master Chief and Marcus, I know that there are other less known characters, but the Microsoft's less known characters are less known than the Sony's less known characters. (Hope you got my point! :) )

Comparing sales of N64 generation to PS2 generation is not really fair. PS2 generation was the DVD gen.

Also Banjo Kazooie is up there with Super Mario 64 for quality. And in many ways bettered it. So no Jak and Ratchet are not in the same ball park as what Banjo & Mario were. Its like saying PS1 Crash came close to Mario 64 or Banjo & Kazooie. It just didnt. Not even close.

Rare and Nintendo owned 3d platforming. Now its really just Nintendo. Crashs games are pretty poor in comparison and Spyro as always been me. Although the last one was cool. Rachet meh. Jak was pretty decent, but not the same level of exploration or level design as Rare and Nintendo could pull.

It would remain to be seen if Microsoft could ever put a decent team together to even come close to original Banjo level design.

Now this sounds like an amazing idea. Like a Mastercief vs Marcus vs Dom vs Joanna Dark vs Elvis vs Jet Force Gemini Team vs Sabre Wulf. Oh yes this is a good idea.

Banjo Kazooie

They might have a bit of difficulty getting it past Nintendo, is my only worry.

Why would it be difficult?

Rareware owns Banjo Kazooie, not Nintendo

Last time I checked, Nintendo published Banjo Kazooie, which is why there's only been the one 360 game (and not a very good one at that). It's also why there's no Conker, or Starfox, or Goldeneye/ Perfect Dark exclusives for the 360.

There's a not-so-straightforward deal between the two, I feel. It's why Rare still does the odd game for Nintendo (Viva Pinata, Diddy Kong Racing), and why they've mainly had to do new IP's.

It would not be straightforward, and it's if Microsoft really care. I don't think they do.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I don't want to compare quality or sales, just brand awareness and popularity at this moment.

Maybe some years ago Banjoo Kazooie was more famous, but now I can't see it as a big series.

Dude I think you need to research a bit.

Starfox is owned and made by Nintendo. Rare only made Nintendo 1 game Starfox Adventures.

Also Conker appeared on Xbox 1. Microsoft own the IP's for Conker, Banjo & Kazooie, Perfect Dark etc etc. The only Rare game Nintendo can stop Microsoft getting is Goldeneye 007. The rest is purely down to Microsoft not making them. Nothing to do with Nintendo.

EDIT: Thats why Microsoft released Banjo & Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Perfect Dark all on XBLA. Nintendo will never be able to release them online because Microsoft owns them.

Still Microsoft choose to waste these great franchises. Its suc a bloody shame. Lionhead would be a good studio to use.

Maybe they could make a smaller, tighter fighter? Like a $15 download instead of a $60 retail title? That would simplify things a bit.

Already been done. Small arms.

It sucks if you dont have memorable characters.

The problem:Microsoft doesn't have memorable IP's outside of Halo. Gears is their most memorable third party this generation. They aren't synonymous with any great characters outside of that so no, they could not be represented as providing gamers with the type of memories Sony and Nintendo have provided.

The fix: They need to revitalize Killer Instinct and make it a name people can remember on the 360. Fans have been begging for it, Microsoft has been ignoring it.

Thats the difference between Microsoft and Sony. Sony listens to their base who asked for a Super Smash type game.

The only hope for Microsoft having a great party game is the memory of how great Rare was before Microsoft bought them. Titles that make you think of Nintendo when you see them.

Can you explain to me why Banjo Kazooie appeared on the XBLA but not on the Wii's Virtual Console if that is the case?

Matterfact unless you can confirm it, I believe both Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark 64 were both published by Rare LTD (Nintendo published Perfect Dark in Japan though).

Conker is owned by Rareware.

Star Fox is owned by Nintendo.

Diddy Kong Racing is owned by Nintendo.

GoldenEye is a James Bond license and can be freely developed by different developers, the GoldenEye you are referring to is the reimagined/reboot that was released on the Wii, PS3 and xbox360 right? It wasnt developed by Rareware.

Have you heard of Perfect Dark Zero...
Have you heard of Conker Live and Reloaded....

Viva Pinata was published by THQ (unsure why or how that happened, but it must of been one of those rare moments - No pun intended xd).

Perhaps I was mistaken then. Rare has done so little of note as of late that I assumed it was due to licensing issues (which I know is the case for Goldeneye), for all of the games.

After doing more research, I see now that Banjo, as a series, is now owned by Rare, so Microsoft. Doesn't mean it'll appear on the imaginary game, though, due to it being known more as a Nintendo series than a Microsoft one.

It doesn't matter, as such a game would never happen anyway...

this actually makes a lot more sense, a mass shooting game with different series' going at each other, would be nothing short of amazing! :D
