ONM make their E3 predictions. Some are pretty likely, some...well, aren't...

Am I REALLY the only one who doesn't think we'll be seeing a 3DS redesign at E3??

(Note- These predictions relate only to the 3DS, not WiiU)

No, no you're not.

I really hope they DO a redesign! Or else I'm not getting it :(

IGN made a pretty good list of things that needs to change...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Can't wait for E3, I'm starting to be really hyped about Wii U. And 3DS will surely see many announcements from both TP and Nintendo. Hopefully there'll be a restyle too, with bigger screens, battery and larger 3D-angle i would buy it D1!

TBH this is really the only thing which would justify a redesgin, because the sweet spot is rather small...

But adding on an extra analogue stick isn't all thaat easy. Relatively few games have it, and no game will ever need it.

There's plently of people angry over the circle pad pro, it would be stupid for Nintendo to make a redesign (which, by definition, changes the size and/or appearence of the console) without a second analogue, thus creating a new add-on appositely for it. Commercially speaking, adding the second analogue into the restyle could work as a system seller for those who bought the first version (sure, not at D1, but in the years coming...).

The question is: will they show two different pieces of hardware at E3? And will they launch them both this year? Not so likely, but with NSMB2 and Brain Training in the works, a Lite-like model could be too.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

No redisgn yet but i would love a 16hours battery life by end of 2013!

Switch!!!

Do you have a link?

And what's wrong with the current design? Nothing IMO. Sure, the battery life is a touch short (tends to be 4 hours on max. brightness for me, 10 hours on lowest), and the screen smudges easily, but these are things that are easily overcome and really are non-problems. I'm not sure what an extra circle pad would solve...

I think they have a point in everything they're listing there. And adding a second circle pad would mean that you don't have to get that god damn awefull boat for certain games.

I suppose making a redesign without the second analogue stick would be stupid, but the 3DS doesn't need a redesign at all. The only reason the DS got one so early is because it wasn't fit for gaming, and it was rather bulky and not user-friendly. The 3DS does not suffer from these problems.

As you said, it's highly unlikely we'll see both this and WiiU in one E3, but who knows? I hope not. But I am going to University this year, so if there will be a redesign it would be helpful, so I can have one, as could my brother...

But what would happen if we do get the additional analogue stick? Would every game need to be designed with two analogue pads as the norm? If so, what would happen to the 20+million who (at the time) would have the original? Would they be stuck? Because I doubt devs would happily make two control schemes for every game. Or maybe the second pad would be unused in half of games, if so, why upgrade?

It's a tricky situation. Best to leave it as it is IMO.

I must say, I do agree with most of the points, and that image at the bottom looks very nice...

But, as I said, no game released yet or to be released, to my knowledge, NEEDS the second pad. Making it a part of the actual console would mean more devs would use it (naturally), which means people with the original would be short-changed.

Where's the power button? You can't put it on either side because of the Volume and Wireless switches, no way you can put it on top, and forget about the bottom. So how's this going to work?

Also, I don't know about having the face buttons in that location. I'm sure it works fine for Wii U, but not for 3DS.

Yeah, no power button, no headphones slot, no extended battery life, and I like the colour thing as well...
