Forums - Sales - Global SW & HW Up ! (21st April)

I really don't buy the shipped vs sold angle. The important thing for any company Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony are their fiscal shipment/sold which had the 3DS at ~17.2M units ending March 31, 2012!!! It should be around 19-20M shipped by the end of April or May, which is around 10x more than what Sony's Vita had sold/shipped right now!!!

btw on another topic does anybody know how the Move is doing? I know the Kinect is still doing good with a few games being released or scheduled for release...but I haven't heard much about the Wii-remote clone for quite sometime?

Thanks Barozi, can't believe IGN is also bickering about shipped and sold numbers when it should be taken that shipped=sold. Retailers, will not order more stock than what their inventory and demand could support.  However, I don't know if 10.5 million shipped is good for the Move?  How does it compare to the Kinect, or the Wii's other add-on like WM+ and Balance Board?  Motion gaming has already passed on Sony and they should concentrate on their current hardware (PS3) and future hardware (PS4) instead of weak links like the Move and I dare say Vita.  The way Sony is hemmoraging money lately, I wouldn't be surprised if they sold most of their assests in 3-4 years.  They need to concentrate on what is important and re-focus on what makes them money!!! My 2 cents.

Kinect has sold 18 million since January 2012.

Anyway since Kinect holds the Guiness world record for being the "fastest selling consumer electronics device," I think its safe to say that the move didn't do as well as the kinect.

The Balance board, if including bundles, has sold 42 million January 2012.

Aparantly it also holds a world record for "best-selling personal weighing device."

Just Move controller and not navigation or camera.

Incorrect.  It includes the Navigation sub-controller.

And Sony, among others, have said the nubmers are not very good given that many units are purchased by the same user for multiplayer so the actual number of Move units available for individual consumer use is closer to 3-4 million.

ouch...no wonder why Sony is losing so much money!!! Seriously, Sony needs to stop doing stupid ventures like this or else they will go the way of Palm, Excite, and RIM and be forgotten in 3-4 years time!!!

Wow it'll be interesting to see how the camera and controller bundle compares with those numbers. With all the marketing and research Sony had put into the Move it is surely going to be their John Carter!!! That is if Vita doesn't continue in it's downward spiral as well. I honestly think Vita numbers here are overtracked seeing how many stores have not moved them since launch. *get it moved since launch and we were talking about Move...oh forget it!!!
