Not really surprising to see an exclusive not due strong numbers. Especially not so much on the PS3.

Sure PS3 has tons have exclusives but they all mostly sell mid-range or lower. They actually do too many 1st party exclusives so they don't have the money to actually push these franchises with strong advertising and such. Sony themselves have even said this is a problem.

They need to focus more on a few big name in house exclusives and try to turn them into mega franchises like Halo and Gears. They have Uncharted right now which is doing pretty successful but if you look at most of the other 1st party stuff in terms of sales they aren't massive franchises. Starhawk is simply being swallowed up in everything else at least currently.

Halo Reach: 8.93 Million

Gran turismo: 7.44 Million

Gears of War 3: 5.36 Million

Uncharted 3: 4.17 Million

Dem Mega Franchises, Sony Only wishes they had anything near as big.

This Is a "mega Franchise" Mario Kart Wii: 31.91, Gears is not, it might be Big, and it does Big week ones, but its not a lot larger than Uncharted anymore.

forgetting vgchartz dont track digital sales

Given the legs I'd say uncharted is bigger than gears now, U3 will pass Gears 3.

thanks to heavy bundling

Can someone explain to me, how is a sequel to a game that sold 59k first week, and only has a 400k US install base, a flop when it has 47k preorders with 3 weeks to go?

I mean seriously, if people want to bash the fact all the 20 exclusives per year PS3 owners get, don´t all sell like Uncharted or GT go at it, but don´t call a flop when the previous game was quite small in sales. In the future it can be a flop if reviews come in and the game actually sucks, killing legs, but right now there is absolutely no number that tells you that this game will flop according to previous game sales. (assuming of course VGC has correct numbers)

Those Assassin's Creed numbers are scary hight

I don't understand why Jay or enditall are even arguing with me. This isn't anything anti-Sony its a fact. You really think Sony are posting good profit from Ratchet & Clank All 4 One, Killzone, LBP2, Starhawk, or really the majority of their exclusives? Well, they aren't.

This is a fact. Sony themselves have straight said they are going to narrow down and cut down the amount of exclusives they have. It only makes sense. So again, your not arguing with me then, your arguing with Sony since we seem to be in agreement.

But anyways this is getting Off topic this is a pre-order thread I'm not gonna sit around and argue with your guys agenda, I dont really care anyways.

I'm arguing with you??

?????

LMFAO!!!!

okay, let me explain this thoroughly for you, Mr.BenVTrigger

you said -->They have Uncharted right now which is doing pretty successful but if you look at most of the other 1st party stuff in terms of sales they aren't massive franchises and then i made a harmless reply saying --> Gran Turismo Laughs at this <-- after i said this you jumped the gun with the "OMG HE IS TRYING TO ARUE WITH ME AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" bullshit and you also claimed that i had some kind of evil agenda just by this LMAO

you also mentioned Halo and Gears of War so i take it that you are comparing Sony franchises to MS's rather than to Nintendo's

and also @Millenium said Sony does not have any monster franchises still stands  <-- he is implying that this is what you were trying to say and that he agrees with you

now lets do this franchise for franchise

let's compare Sony and Microsoft's 1st party franchises shall we

Microsoft                                                                     Sony

1. Halo 3 (11.51m)                                                    1. Gran Turismo 5 (7.44)

2. Forza Motorsport 3 (5.06m)                              2. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (5.56)

3. Fable 3 (4.76m)                                                     3. Little Big Planet (4.89)

4. Project Gotham Racing 4 (1.94m)                    4.God Of War 3 (4.34)

5.CrackDown (1.67m)                                               5. Resistance: Fall Of Man (4.05)

6.Viva Pinata(1.55m)                                                 6.Motorstorm (3.73)

7.Alan Wake (1.33m)                                                 7.Killzone 2 (2.84)

8.Blue Dragon (0.84)                                                  8.Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools Of Destruction (2.35)

9.Lost Odyssey (0.82)                                                  9.InFamous (2.20)

10.Perfect Dark (0.73)                                                10.Heavenly Sword (1.55)

^^^ now look at this list of Sony and M$'s top 10 highest selling franchises this gen and tell me which system has the better selling franchises

going by this list i would say that Sony has more "MEGA franchises" than MS by MILES!

this whole "M$ franchises sell better than Sony franchises" bullsh!t is just a myth that needs to die

now what exactly are these "Monster franchises" that Sony doesn't have any of and microsoft supposedly has so much more of?? LMAO!!!

but whatever..

Please stop saying LMAO. Sales figures really aren't that hilarious, and it just makes you sound like you're trying to rile him up.

what? Gears has had just as much bundling if not more.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

While I greatly appreciate input from every user here, and the more than average post count that a pre-order thread gets.

If no-one else has anything to comment on the pre-orders themselves please just stop posting in this thread all together, all this childish ranting over a simple comment someone has made has gotten extremely annoying, if you don't agree with his view that's fine, but stop derailing the thread with it.

Thank you.

Just checked over this again and Max Payne 3 looks kind of low! Hopefully it'll do better than what the pre-orders here are suggesting

I agree with you there, they're not abysmally low but certainly not what I was expecting the game to do. In my opinion this game should do at least 600K on the 360 WW in week 1 and 600K on the PS3 WW in week 1. (I don't see this game being noticably bigger on either platform than the other).

Hopefully it's just a little case of slight undertracking because it's not been a 4-5 million seller franchise before.

Do we know how much the previous games sold? VGChartz says 3.2m for the PS2 version alone! So 4-5m+ for PS2+PC is very likely. Oh and then there's an Xbox version I didn't know of that sold 1.1m. No Max Payne 2 tracking, which is weird

1 Max Payne PS2 2001 Shooter Take-Two Interactive 1.99 1.05 0.05 0.22 3.31
2 Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne PS2 2003 Shooter Take-Two Interactive 0.65 0.51 0.00 0.17 1.34
3 Max Payne XB 2001 Shooter Take-Two Interactive 0.98 0.19 0.00 0.05 1.22
4 Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne XB 2003 Shooter Take-Two Interactive 0.47 0.15 0.00 0.02 0.64
5 Max Payne GBA 2003 Shooter Take-Two Interactive 0.02 0.01 0.00 0.00 0.03

Looks like Max Payne did better than Max Payne 2 (Not sure if accurate, but I don't know for certain) and PS2 certainly dominated the Xbox version in sales, but I'm not convinced this is going to happen in this gen. (Honestly, don't hate me people).

So yeah, slightly bigger than I expected but not over the top yet, and VGC doesn't have any PC numbers unfortunately. :(

Starhawk is low but it's not surprising. It's really a new game. Warhawk is a niche game and it's not even Warhawk so... Don't expect everyone jumping on it.   I did pre-ordered it and if it's good it will show legs.

Like the thread says it may be the hidden gem... or not...
