Maybe not, and it's not necessary mind you, but I don't think Nintendo won't add anything 3D (not 3D gameplay, but 3D graphical gimmicks) to this game.

Remember that huge crushing spiked ball in NSMB? I can imagine for example, it coming from the background now, instead than (or in addition to) the corner of the screen.

You're absolutely right PSwii60. I had my expectations misplaced when it came to the graphical offerings of what would be the next 2D Mario. I thought they would be awesome, from these pics, it looks like they won't be (and yes, I understand what Rol is saying there may be improvements till release). But as it is, I'm not excited.

I'm not overthinking the series, I was underthinking my expectations. Luckily, after a reality check, I think I'm much better placed, and the conclusion is I won't expect it any more (unless things change by then).

^I'm mostly just tired of getting my hopes crushed in all honesty. My last good Nintendo game, apart from Galaxy (the exception) was Metroid Prime 3. I'm sick of all the junk this gen has brought. I'm sick of the new Nintendo and I'm sick of the HD market. It's all crap, with a few rare gems scattered so parsimoniously it makes me sick.

^You're just upset I'm saying something negative about a franchise you overly like. Don't get me wrong, I like Mario. A hell of a lot actually. But I reserve the right to express my dissatisfaction when my tastes aren't met.

And if my tastes are whacked, then so be it.
