wtf wants photo realistic games? i sure as hell dont.

Honestly a huge percentage of gamers, ure the minority. Obviously there's going to be people out there that don't care to much about it.

Actually most gamers don't care much for graphics.

I am surprised that no one else brought up this point -- if the games are too lifelike, the negative reaction to the graphics can cause them to "fail."

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Quote for the truth.
If gamers really cared about graphics they wouldn't be buying Call of Duty in droves and wouldn't be gaming on a console.

However, with that said... When a game does feature cutting edge graphics... Their is allot of word of mouth which can translate into some sales. Aka. Crysis 1 and Battlefield 3 for example.

Hologram gaming...

This was precisely my thought.  We're not even close to what will be done visually as of yet.

i would like to make a thread, the title is

HOW PHOTOREALISM KILLED VIDEOGAMES

Go ahead I'd like to read it.

Focusing on graphics more than the actual gameplay.

considering that it takes more time, effort and money to produce games these i'd even say that more powerfull consoles are killing the gaming industry. The smaller game developers can no longer sustain the cost needed to develop games for these powerfull hd consoles.

take a look at the 1 dollar games and free shit available in the adroid market, cheap ass games that are fun. that's what high budget games are really missing these days. FUN!

Indeed, whih is why I study it the way I do. I've been at this now since just before I joined the site, and my findings are the same every time. The negative reaction to "The Valley" can make some people shy away from the movie they're watching, the game they're playing, or the robot they're observing.

Sometimes you have something that The Uncanny Valley isn't strong enough to hurt the overall experience, which is what spared Heavy Rain, but other times, the repulsion is just too great (which is one of the reasons Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within wasn't the success it could have been).

It will be a great opportunity for a new breed of horror games. Emphasize the flaws to make some truly unnerving characters.
Horror games should benefit the most from realistic graphics to make everything seem normal while screwing with your head with a few things that are off.

Nah, hyper-real games is where it's at
