Forums - Nintendo - Is it time for a Nintendo East division?

Should Nintendo open Nintendo East?

Yes India and the ME are ... 11 91.67%

No, NOE should remain in charge 1 8.33%

Total:12

Recently I have been hearing a ton of complaints from Nintendo customers in the Middle East, in India in Pakistan in those regions where Nintendo does not have an over whelming presence. I often hear that people have to import games because they aren't distributed properly by NOE that retailers openly carry multiple different region games and that customers cant get access to localized content.

All of this got me thinking an no not about unlocking region locks. It got me thinking that Nintendo should open an Eastern division to handle the ME and India etc..etc... I was sort of shocked to see that video game console software sales accounted for over 150-million USD this year. Making up 55% of the total games industry in India which is expected to grow like 33% next year and maintain an annual growth for years to come. I notice that Microsoft has an Xbox India team not sure how big I'm not as familiar with the Indian market.

But what if Nintendo opened a small 50 man facility in India to handle distribution in the region. Maybe Nintendo purchases or hires a small localization team of say another 50 developers to localize some content for the ME/South Asian market?. Maybe Nintendo hires one or two small Indian studios to create Indian games for the region. Seeing as India has a very diverse ethnic community including Muslims and Christians and Sikhs and Hindus Nintendo could use that to create some small titles as original content as well as slightly localize content for the region.

What are your thoughts should Nintendo open a Nintendo East to cover India and the ME? , Disclaimer please forgive me if I screwed the numbers up at all. I cannot reference them on my phone. I voted for yes

Considering that Inddia as a whole is growing, why wouldn't they try to get some profits in that region??

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I have to agree; India is the second biggest country population-size in the world, and will become very valuable soon.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Because india's gamemarket is still pretty small. Probably not that much bigger than Portugal's gaming market. One gaming store in India in a city would be pretty happy if they could sell one console a day.

secondly it will be way overpriced and you will got those typical Australian prices for an example the price of the Vita in india:

PS Vita Wifi:  U.S. – $250; India – $406 (or INR 19,990)

Not yet, but soon.

But as I said, India is growing, becoming more and more wealthy. It would be stupid not to exploit that soon! Some academics have pointed to India as the next super power, which might not happen in the near future - but it still signals growth, and that's why Nintendo should be ready to jump onboard.

Well, yes of course. Every big region should have at least a small representative office.
But they also should get rid of that ridiculous region locking.

Obviously, they will do it if the market became so big that a local division would help to increase the sales. At least, they are currently handled by NOE, which delivers the games. Meanwhile, Latin Americans are stuck with the mainstream games Reggie picks.
