Forums - Sales - Brink has sold "more than 2.5 million worldwide"

Eurogamer

Multiplayer-centric 2011 shooter Brink has sold more than 2.5 million units worldwide, according to developer Splash Damage.

Studio CEO Paul Wedgewood revealed the figure in an interview with Gamasutra about the company's new publishing wing, called WarChest.

"With Splash Damage, we finished Brink, and it's estimated to have sold more than 2.5 million units worldwide, which at retail would mean that it's generated around $120-140 million in revenue," he explained.

"But of course, as an independent video game developer, we don't earn that kind of revenue, as we're not the publisher of the title... but we could see there was the potential to serve our fans content directly, and while we don't want to take anything away from what Splash Damage does, we wanted a vehicle that we can dedicate exclusively to that pursuit."

Which is where WarChest comes in. It will publish free-to-play digital titles, the first of which, iOS effort Rad Soldiers, was revealed earlier this week. The UK-based studio is also working on two unannounced AAA titles - one for PC and one for consoles.

Yeah I can believe it sold that. Look how long it's been out? And look how long you could have bought it for $20 or less. The game dropped to $20 less than a month after release. So this number due to price and time isn't anything to pat yourself on the back over.

Maybe not the biggest thing to pat yourself on the back, but 2.5 mill happy with that no matter WHAT!

Considering how piss poor both critiques and word of mouth was for the game, 2.5million is impressive even if it sold for $1 per copy.

Yeah, he said,

''2.5 million units worldwide, which at retail would mean that it's generated around $120-140 million in revenue''

That implies that each copy was sold at $50.

They are blatantly lying. The revenue was probably around $70-$80 million max.

Wow you can pick this game up from garbage bins. I wonder how it managed to sold so much, let alone make a revenue of over $100 million.

well undertracked for sure, but yeah it's likely that many sales came at a very low price.

Well Yeah....They probably sold it for that price to the retailers and retailers had to cut the price to sell all the copies...

lol this game was $5 new at Best Buy multiple times during the holidays and still kept It's stock.
Duke Nukem and this game could have sold well but not at $50 or $60. They are lieing.

It's just that simple.

Not bad, even for a bargain bin game.
