Hmm, no - even though One Piece is bigger than Mario there. But I expect Pokemon to do a million first week and push 3DS past 150k. And I expect Monster Hunter to sell 2 million first week and push 3DS by 200k units.

That's the thing about expected things, they tend to happen quite more often than unexpected ones.

No, you didn't. You think soul sacrifice is the only one able to sell Vita games?

Pokemon, Monster Hunter, Mario. Do you know any other games?

Those are called Major franchises... add DQ and there you go, all the portable big boys are on 3DS - with some minor monsters following behind - like Animal Crossing or tomodachi collection or maybe (but I doubt) Brain Age 3. Final fantasy is the only exception, but it was never huge on portables, so I don't think FFXV or something like that will be on both 3DS or Vita. And if you're square what would you choose, 8 million or 1 million systems to sell.

It's simple... any game can sell Vitas - Unit 13 pushed 18 vitas, remember? - but with what would you prefer to count on, those games "I know", or misterious major seller game? Just look at history, all winner systems had the majority of "big boys". This time 3DS seems to have them all!

Was a new persona ever on Vita? How much did super robo sell on psp this week? Nearly 300k? Oh that's right.

It's like you're making the mistake that's smacking you in the face even as we speak. Look at wii with its 20 million sellers. And look at the two systems that are catching up to it. The games you're mentioning are like microcosms for the home consoles. MH=Call of duty, Mario = Mario, DQ = Wii Fit, Pokemon = wii sports, and what you're forgetting is that there's a ton of other games that sell really well and sell consoles but you are either blinded by the top sellers or perhaps blinded by something else.

There are a lot of games that are making their first appearance on a handheld with Vita, a lot of games with brand power. New hatsune miku, new super robo, new gundam, new persona, new vanillaware, and lots more. I know the Japanese audience, I have Japanese friends who are on social networks talking about games all the time, I sometimes browse Japanese chan sites, I know what they like. Kingdom Hearts they want on Vita, not 3ds. MH they want on Vita, not 3ds, Idolmaster is actually the game everyone is waiting for, persona is hotly anticipated, everyone's talking about a secret Hideo game for Vita.

Anyway, you're right in saying that there is no argument without facts. And I can't provide you facts because I'm not an analyst. I'm simply someone who follows trends and popular things in japan. And here you have a list of historical sales, which someone has done all the work for you, and you say, sales will be exactly those levels and nothing more. Well, the burden is on me to prove to you that the natural increase in a popular products sequels increase. And I don't have time for that, I'll just prepare the crow, and you can chow down later.

I added another paragraph to my previous post and I'll answer to this as soon as I can

But let's not go into infinite-loop, ok? Each with their point of view.

Also, Xenoblade sales at 44k in the US for this week. We're looking at 55-60k WW this week, highly respectable!

Very nice. I was assuming it would be within the 17k-32k range.

No worries, you don't even need to respond.

Just don't think you can get out of your statements with your wishy washy "hey anything can happen" :D

Great ps3 numbers again :D

Of course not. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong and Kudos to Sony for revitalizing vita in japan - which will happen btw, of course this level it is now not the norm of the future. It'll go up.

But by how much, that's the million dollar question.

Nice! Didn't notice it last week but it has crossed the 500k mark and with this week's sales it's close to 600k! Makes me happy!

Edit:

Happy, until NPD shatters everything next month. I'm prepared for disaster.

Quartely results will shatter everything in my opinion.

Just to finish, I also think many many things can happen to Vita (including amazing things) but the wider the gap grows the more difficult it gets for them to happen. And it's growing wildely right now. Are you really happy with those numbers or think they're normal? They're dreamcast levels, jeez! Gamecube hitted a million ages before Vita and Vita is not even dreaming of reaching it anytime soon!

I wouldn't worry too much about Vita 3rd party support. Third parties would much rather release their big games for a Sony console than a console made by Nintendo. Lots of major japanese franchises will be released on the Vita because third parties have seen success on the PSP with their games. They know the audience is there and will buy a Vita for the games they have planned.

I'm a big Nintendo supporter but it's not like third party 3DS games have set the japanese sales charts on fire. I'm quite sure the Vita will get a Kingdom Hearts game after the 3DS version sold less than expected. Same goes for Phantasy Star - there was a DS iteration but it sold rather poorly compared to the PSP version. Thus the next one will be on Vita instead of 3DS. The reason for this (at least in my opinion) is that people buying a Nintendo handheld want "handheld" games while Vita customers are more inclined to buy "console" style games. And third parties like their consoles style games even on handhelds. Because of this a small userbase is not a huge hindrance for them.

And last but not least: never underestimate third parties when it comes to choosing Sony over Nintendo for support

And what exactly makes you say that? You predicted it would sell 80k WW the first week, and 20k this week. You've been with less than half the actual sales for both predictions...

Ever thought maybe you're just being pessimistic? It IS Reyn Time after all...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Gee's w'ere expecting 225K+ for Xenoblade in NPD?! No way! Bigger, multiplat games have been doing less than that lately.

3DS and PS3 domination continues, alls normal.
