PS3 will likely outsell Wii by 7m+ this year alone >_>

Last year Wii did what 11.6m and PS3 about 14m. (2.4m more)
I'd guess Wii will do around 7m and PS3 about 12m.
So, at worst case PS3 will do 7m more than Wii if my guess on the drop off is worse or PS3 has another finaly YoY increase (highly doubtful). More than likely around a 5m gain on Wii.
You have to remember Wii will be $99 to $119 before this year (probably by E3) is over with packed in games while PS3 is at best to reach $199 (probably fall).
So pricing will increase both of their sales during holidays as the Wii's back catalog and various sales will push it just like it has every holiday. PS3's new lower price will also give it a limited jump in sales, but that effect is getting less and less at each drop as the market becomes saturated.
Finally, E3 will see the full reveal of the Wii U and partial to full reveals for MSony's next consoles as well. Meaning, people may decide a Wii U with the same upcoming and enhanced library for $100 more is a better value OR they may decide to save up more money for a future system in 2013. That means 'new' entrants are far less likely. More probably are people replacing consoles for one reason or another and that group is far smaller and potentially more prone to just wait for next gen of some form.
Point is, PS3 is about 32m behind right now. Its taken 6 years for it to catch the 360 that was at most ahead by about 8m at one point, there is no way it will ever make up that 32m Wii gap.
PS3 gain on Wii each year.
2012 - 5m;
2013 - 5m;
2014 - 3m;
2015 - 1m; (PS36Wii are stopped production here)
Maybe it will cut the lead down by half, maybe a couple million more if PS3 lasts to 2016 or Wii ends early at 2014... either way it takes a lot of giant IFs for this prediction to come true.
