Suddenly it all makes so much sense! So Sony is after Microsofts Uncharted 4 after Microsoft left the house early but since Sony obviously is faster due to better conditioning or in this regard sales, they will eventually catch up and get Uncharted 4.

Now I feel all fuzzy and warm inside :'D

To all those yabbering about which side did the bigger accomplishment this gen I would say their about the same. Both of them had complete screw-ups at the beginning of the gen. Whereas the 360 had the one year head start, Kinect (which single-handily kept it in second place), the slim redesign and to a much lesser extent, all of those special edition 360's.

i knew i liked you for some reason, but i disagree with only one part. PS3 will take and keep the lead in 2013, but only by a small margin.

Yeah I can honestly see it going either way. I just believe that the 360 will pull ahead of the PS3 by the end of the year 2013 because it usually does better during the holidays. However the gap may just already be large enough by the Holiday season 2013 that it might not be able to take back the lead.

I don't think 360 will have a big 2013 holiday season, MS will probably be busy advertising Nextbox and Kinect 2

No, there are Sony trolls and there are reasonable Sony fans. Same for MS. Don't lump a group together just because they have a common interest in gaming.

it feels like I have been saying that the whole gen, but people just like their good old generalizations - makes the whole world so much easier

Microsoft shipped almost 3 million more consoles last quarter but according to VGChartz is sold 2 million less?  I guess if it did outsell the PS3 last quarter it will never be known and will just be part of the "adjustments" for this quarter.

What are you talking about? They sold more during the holiday season. Sold around 700k less during the year, the reasons as to why have already been discussed.


I must have looked at an old VGChartz article with numbers that weren't adjusted.  Anyways regardless of the numbers here I'm willing to bet that the 360 will have LTD sales of 2+ million more compared to PS3 at the end of this year (based on numbers given out by both companies financial reports).

Yup, but the holiday season is more important to MS than to Sony now, because PS3 outsells 360 for the entirety of the year before it.

Actually I didn't take into account that sales of the first 3 quarters for 2012 will probably be significantly more than the sales from the last quarter for the 360 and PS3 hence making it harder for the 360 to take back the lead. I still think that scenario is possible though because the sales will be so close to each other already when the Holiday season 2013 arrives.

Sony will be lucky to break even when all is said and done. I hate to say it, but Sony fucked up big time this gen. It's sad to see this once-huge electronics company fall this deep.

It's been shown by kowenicki many times that the one thorn in Sony's side is their television business. It had been in the red for ten years.

Bluray market share is also at 35%

Sony would be profiting right now if not for televisions.
