Picked this up after the glowing reviews its gotten. I'm not a fan of tactical RPG's normally, but with such praise I wanted to give it a shot. It's good, but it reminds me why I don't play the genre since I;'m getting my ass handed to me in every fight. I probably shoulda done casual mode but that seems too easy.

It's all about the challenge, I suppose. :/

Anyone know if you can reclass a special class back to thier orginal special class?

I wanna reclass Olivia to Myrimdon to get some of dem skills/better stats then back to a dancer so she's more offensive yet still is a dancer.

Would that work?

Yes. I reclassed Nowi into Wyvern lord to get swordbreaker (counter Wyrmslayers.....) I plan do make her a manakete again soon.

Thanks bro.  Currently she can dodge and hit most enemies no problem cause her speed/skill is decent.  It's just her str sucks balls and I think if she is gonna pull her weight in Lunatic she needs some offensive abilities.  Also more def/res is helpful. ;p

Yeah and I really can't stand the thought of perma death for any of my characters so I have to restart anytime someone dies. On chapter 7, slowly but surely I guess.

I was going to do the same with my Olivia.  Reclass here and get the skills she woudl get as a swordmaster and then back to dancer.  So basically she would be a swordmaster, yet have the ability for dance.

I'm the same way. I can't stand on playing on a harder difficulty than Normal, because it's already difficult enough to keep everyone alive.

I swear it took me months before I managed to beat Path of Radience on Normal without losing anyone, but that was my first Fire Emblem game.

Heck no! Like I said I'm not very good at tactical RPG's so hard mode would totally destroy me. I do feel this game is a lot more intuitive and easier to get than other tactical RPG's I've tried though.

PoR had a easy normal mode.  Tho not as easy Sacred Stones on Normal.

It's okay to play no casual mode. Nobody's going to judge you. You just don't have to deal with permadeaths. There's no point in reloading if you wanted the challenge of permadeaths.

Havent gotten the game yet but I do plan to do so in the future however would like to ask, where in the whole series does this game take place?

I wanna play the series in order (if there is one o.o).

Different Timelines but some do follow the same story.

Half of the games are Japanese release only tho (anything before FE7), with a remake that brought FE1 to english.  The FE3 remake was still Japanese only.

In reality Awakening is set far in the future than its previous games and makes it so that new players should have no problem with the story.  At the very least you can pick up the FE1 remake for the DS if you wanna get a background on Marth and his world before Awakening.  If your hardcore you would have to emulate a lot of translated games to get the full experience.  Either who the various timelines are as follows:

The most popular one that involves Marth's timeline:

Genealogy of the Holy War (FE4)

Thracia 776 (FE5)

Dark Dragon and the Sword of Light/Shadow Dragon (FE1 and its DS remake)

Gaiden (FE2, a side story of FE1 really)

Mystery of the Emblem/New Mystery of the Emblem (FE3 but spilt into 2 Books, Book 1 is a remake of FE1, Book 2 focuses as a true sequel to FE1, the DS remake is only Book 2)

Awakening (FE13, Although has stuff from other timelines as well)

Then you have Roy's timeline:

Blazing Sword (FE7, also known just as Fire Emblem in english, the first english FE)

Sword of Seals (FE6)

A standalone game:

Sacred Stones (FE8)

Then finally you have Ike's timeline:

Path of Radiance (FE9)

Radiant Dawn (FE10)
