Forums - General - Check out my comic, y'all

For the past 18 months or so, I've been working on a webcomic called Variables. Some of you probably know about it already but if you're into superhero-ey type things (though calling this a superhero book is a bit of a stretch), check it out and let me know what you think. Here's a sample page:

Looks neat, great drawings, though I'm not much of a comic book fan. ("Shloo chunk" made me laugh though)

All cops are bastards!?

I was heavily into it at one time but I slowly drifted away from it. Looks like you've really gotten better at your craft, though. Almost like an entirely new artist has come aboard (not criticizing your earlier work--just praising your improvement). I haven't been reading any comics, lately. Sometimes, I go back and read something like Maus but that's rare. DC's New 52 really turned me against comics.

i'm not to into comics, but the artwork looks great. I like it alot. Its looks very professional and polished.

I'm not really into comics but that art looks MAGNIFICENT!!! :-O

Love it, I'm getting a stylized and less sterile Top Cow feeling and that's a good thing! The color palette and lines are amazing in my opinion and even the theme seem engaging and exciting!

Thanks! I read a lot of comics (naturally) but I can't really say there's an artist (or three) that I directly pull a style from... it has just kind of evolved over time. Ultimately, I want Variables to look as good as something produced by Marvel/DC/Image, but with its own flavor that separates it.

In another 30 pages, I'm sure my style will be drastically different than it is now. It's a moving target, really. The only thing that seems to stick around through it all is the linework. I've never been into drawing some of the brush-heavy, slightly messy work that is popular nowadays. I love to look at it but the style just doesn't really fit for my own work.

Of course, now that I said that, I'll probably start to think it's fun to draw in a faster, looser style.

Only thing I can say is that the eyebrows are a bit too thick, or too jet black
pupils are a hair too large.
I'm specifically referring to the second panel, fyi

Otherwise, it's very very well done.
