mmmm....the drawing could have more work. Faces look bad.

Hmm. Well, it's certainly a work in progress but I don't think the faces are, as you say, "bad".

tell me what you think of this one

Yeah.  My exact words were "FUCK YOU!" as I pushed my laptop away.  Wish somebody was recording my reaction.

The artstyle is pretty good and there's good enough detail on the surrounding than just on the character itself. Oh, and isn't it supposed to be "Barricade" instead of "Barracade"?

Sonuvabitch... how did that get through my editing process? Thanks, man.

You're welcome .

Heh, I'm super paranoid about typos. Dunno how that one slipped through. I think that was my first typo that made it to the site in over 60 pages of content so far. A pretty dumb one, too.

Am I missing something? All I see there is a bunch of Korean (or Japanese, dunno) with a guy's face looking at a monitor.

Yeah, you're definitely missing something.....or my laptop is possessed by Satan.  Both are realistic scenarios.

Ah, there we go. It didn't animate for me the first time.

Hahahah, that's pretty great.

Well, I usually try to avoid typos myself as well. I noticed that one quickly mostly because Barricade is a latin-rooted word, common in my own language, though from what I know, barracade is also used colloquially for other purpouse.

All cops are bastards!?

I was heavily into it at one time but I slowly drifted away from it. Looks like you've really gotten better at your craft, though. Almost like an entirely new artist has come aboard (not criticizing your earlier work--just praising your improvement). I haven't been reading any comics, lately. Sometimes, I go back and read something like Maus but that's rare. DC's New 52 really turned me against comics.

By the way, just to be clear, this story arc takes place in Athens, Greece.

A place where the police deserve to be called bastards as often as possible. We think we have a screwed up police system here in the states but it doesn't compare to some of the other institutions I've read about while researching Variables. In most cases, our cops are as warm and fuzzy as the Easter Bunny compared to some of the pricks out there.

I only touch on it (sans words) in the story but the first black and white scene takes place in 91, where a faux police force that was santioned by the government stormed several schools and tear gassed the shit out of a bunch of students across Athens. It was pretty horrific.

In Variables, I'm trying really hard to avoid the cliche character. Karter is honor-bound and thinks he's a bit of a Peoples' Champion. But in reality, he's kind of a vengeful dick. A little anti-heroish to start off (ugh, cliche there) but I had to establish the character as such so that he can progress and grow as the series follows him. Honestly, he's kind of dumb. Not like retarded stupid but just kind of blind to the big picture and how he fits into it.
