Double post because it's an important post.

Beat the game, and actually not much to say. More to say on latter Heart-to-Heart convos, like Riki's idiotic plan to bring that giant crystal back to the village that seemed to involve having Reyn smash it with his head. When Riki got blown away by the geyser, that was good too. I wish they had elaborated more on who got together with whom at the end of the game, especially after hitting you over the head with Reyn-Sharla the whole time only to ultimately leave you hanging. Melia implied she was after someone else in her top-level conversation with Sharla too, but never specified who. Also would have liked a bit more elaboration on the nature of the New World. Almost needs a sequel if they could find an appropriate villain.

And now, i feel empty. What's next?

Well, have you considered what you've left to do? Tephra Cave, all the quests (at least the skill trees and the giants' treasure), the level 100+ enemies, 5* affinity with everywhere, getting everything in the 'other' part of the collectopedia...you've still much to do!

And what about the ending? You like? I thought it was was weird and 'out-there', but somehow...it worked for me. And some of the late H2H's are great. I like the one on the fallen arm between Dunban and Melly in particular.

Or you could play The Last Story.

I dislike the affinity system with an extreme passion, why am I forced to use characters I dislike just to not miss out of story?

You don't miss out on any story. It's just some interesting side snippets about their lives, and you'll find you'll have maxed out affinity between a few characters by the halfway point anyway.

Not if I don't use them I will not have.

So? Ignore them then. I ignored Reyn and Sharla completely during my first runthrough and never felt I missed anything, because I hadn't.

You HAVE to have 3 characters, so you're bound to get strong links between them by simply fighting anyway. And when you get a new character, you'll likely play as them to try them out, building a few links between them right from the get-go.

Just choose your favourite team and forget about it. It doesn't do anything, really

Last Story's not until August 14th (15th street) in the US now, which is bothersome because that rams it right up against New Super Mario Bros 2 on the 19th street-date.

Perhaps i'll return at some point to pursue more elite-level stuff, but whatever

I had been spoilered on the nature of the ending for some time, so i was able to come to grips with the idea, which in its own way makes sense.

I've spent 193 hours now. I'm up to the Bionis Interior but I'm still questing and trying to level up. Gogols on the Bionis Leg worked for a while but I'm at level 79 now so it's a slow grind. Are there monsters between 80 and say 83 to grind on. Yes I found the level 80 Gogols but it seems that it skips to 85 or 86 with very little in between. I have found some level 84 critters but they all have backup from stronger monsters.

Help me Obi-Cone Kanobi your my only hope. :)

There are 82-85 Gogol up on the canyon near the end of Satorl Marsh (if you go downriver from Soroal Statues, on the banks of that canyon is where they are), then once you pick up, you can get other mid-80s creatures around Satorl marsh and the Kromar on Kromar coast in Eryth Sea. That's how i did it. Got up to level 87 and steamrolled the final bosses.

Thank you Mr. Khan. I shall find those stinkin' Gogols and smite them. I tried level 84 Kromars in Eryth but two at once proved difficult at level 79. I got one of them though.

My apologies, I didn't see your post!

Yeah, Satorl is the place to be. Go at night, there's enemies from 80-85.

Woah...awesome! How'd you find this? Some of the interesting things:

-Shulk was planning on mass-producing Monado Replicas to increase Colony 9's army's firepower. Huh. Good idea.

-Not all that interesting, but Dunban's house is at the entrance of Colony 9 so he's there at the front line of battle. Like a boss. Too bad the mechon attacked in the middle of the colony and flew right past the entrance though, lol :P

-I feel the regeneration device is a little Deus Ex Machina but whatever. Regenerating genes is interesting though and I guess the High Entia are advanced enough to have that kind of technology. I wonder why they didn't (presumably) make more of these devices? Since the story says nobody knows where it is so I guess if they weren't mass produced then it makes sense why nobody really knows about it.

Also I like how after this scene they walk from Colony 9 to Gaur Plains. LOL if they aren't using quick travel that's going to be one long-ass walk to...wherever they're headed. They reach the Bionis Interior by using Junks from Fallen Arm, but how are they getting there? And why are the Machina so lazy that they won't give them a ride from Colony 9?

Yes, very interesting! Though, I knew about Fiora being regenrated, though it felt a bit Borg for me

If only it was more clearly explained!

Starting to really dislike lack on control over battle party during fights. Too often I want to topple and daze something but party will not follow up my attacks with the correct ones, heals not used when I want them to be, Manado-power important fights are are stupid if you not Shulk, aside from enchant for mechon damage he useless as an AI.

Very true. It is annoying. The best AI members are Sharla, Riki, Dunban and Reyn. Shulk is OK, and Melia is pretty poor.

The problem is that AI Melia seems to value the buffs more than speedy damage, so it often looks like she's just doing nothing. Dunban reacts well to Break, but generally doesn't seem to do much else. I do agree that Reyn, Riki, and Sharla are well-left to their own devices, and Seven works best on auto-pilot anyway.
