What I really love about this game is when Shulk gets angry and yells. You can feel the power in his voice.

Yeah, his voice actor (Adam Powell? Something like that) is awesome! Best in the game, but the whole cast is pretty darn good.

I bought this game with some high expectations and it has far exceeded them. Alvis is the most interesting character in the game with his calming voice.

Out of all characters, you think he is the most interesting?

I don´t know where you are right know, but i 2nd and the 4th quarter of the game it is the best imo. Altough the slower segments are pretty good too. I is my 2nd best Wii game.

Out of interest...what's your first favourite Wii game?

And my favourite is also Alvis.

What an amazing game!
Except for strategy RPGs, I haven't really played turn-based RPGs since the PSX days and I was hesitant to jump into xenoblade so my mind was completely blown away when it hooked me. Much like dragon warrior or the original final fantasy, I would hope this becomes the blueprint for which future JRPGs are based upon. The amount of depth and creativity of tactics in the combat is unparalleled in my experience. IMO, very few experiences in video games are as satisfying as setting up an enemy to a daze and have sharla pick up an instant death with the head shot art. Some people on the net believe this game to be overhyped but I don't think there is enough hype.

Just finished the game. Not sure how I feel about the ending.

What's wrong with the ending? It may come 'out of nowhere', but having played through it again, it all makes sense. The hints were there, the game was setting it out for you. You just forget about it, see it as not important.

For example, you know right at the start, when Shulk first takes the Monado off Reyn in the weapon lab? Well, there's a vision there which shows Egil dying, Shulk getting shot, the Emperor dying and the party killing Dickson. In addition, Fiora claims that Shulk 'would love her more as a robot'. And on Prison Island, Alvis calls Zanza Klaus. And there's plenty of other little bits that you deem unimportant, but are actually VERY important. So it's clever IMO.

lolz.

Also Egil and Dickson. Honestly I found the villains to be better characters than the main party. I felt the same way with Xenosaga. Though the gap is smaller in Xenoblade.

Honestly i've felt the villains are poorly-developed and of rather cliched motive. Dickson is rather amusing in an "evil and doesn't give a fuck" kind of way, but Egil seemed like they just ripped Pain/Nagato, or Sasuke to a point, straight out of Naruto, with all "blah blah cycle of vengeance," and so far (i'm dancing around the Bionis' Interior as i grind) Zanza just seems like a normal god-villain.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I disagree. All of the main villians were unique.

Mumkhar was power-hungry for the Monado.

Xord was manipulated into a killing machine.

Fiora and Gadolt were trapped, but fought through.

Egil was trying to do the right thing, and was, but went overboard.

Lorithia wanted the crown, and would get it by any means.

Dickson was the hero gone mad, the guy who played the entire party

And Zanza was the crazed scientist, who was tasked with the new world, but the power went to his head.

All of them were unique, and their motives were clear, which is unusual.

I liked the idea of Zanza being a God of the universe that was there before time. Wanted Alvis to be a real living creature. It was like he was pulling for Shulk to win the entire time.

Did Zanza know Alivs was able to recreate/destroy the universe. If so he should have made him erase Shulk and friends

What I do not understand is what the Manado really is. Is a computer genereated essence that gives you God-like power? And did Shulk get one on his own or did Alvis give it to him. If so why?

.
