I just realized that Nintendo's Wii-U is probably the most discussed console in history!!! I have never seen a console get so much attention, hype, and press before it's release than the Wii U.  I'm wondering if Nintendo is intentionally feeding all this hype that their console is gaining; so as to keep media attention to itself compared to it's competitors.  The Wii-U has already been confirmed to be packing a Power7 CPU along with a Radeon RV700 GPU showing it has some horsepower advantage compared to current system.  But why all the secrecy, because any press is good press as long as u know how to use it.

Have you heard? The WiiU is just a Wii inside a different white box.

You must be new to the videogame industry... this sort of thing happens every time a new major console is announced or is about to be fully unveiled to the public. People were talking just as much about the "Revolution" (Wii's codename) back in '05-'06 with all kinds of speculation and rumors as to what exactly would be so revolutionary about it, and then of course once it was actually shown both the gaming and mainstream media went ape-shit over it.

The reason the Wii U is getting so much attention is that not only is it just a couple of months from being fully unveiled, but it will pretty much have the spotlight all to itself at E3 unless Sony or M$ decide to drop a megaton and tease their new consoles, which is highly unlikely at this point.

its simply because of the times. more people have the internet and technology to find information easier. AS time goes on every new console will be the most hyped ever. take apples stupid yearly releases for example

This alyways happens. The 3ds get the hype, the Vita get the hype and now the Wii U get the hype.
And sometimes later the PS4 and X Box 720 will get the hype.
