To add to this Uncharted talk. 28.8% of Vita owners have Uncharted Golden Abyss, but only 6.4% of PS3 owners have Uncharted 3.

Line up game. With like 1.5m sales it's a lot easier to get high attachment ratio whereas UC3 has been released much later in it's life cycle, so to get 28% it would need to do about 18m(cba to get the calculator), which is more than any game ever sold on any HD console.

% doesn't mean shit at this stage, and they are not really comparable.

Also wtf is this? Since when is Uncharted bigger than Mario!?

I think you make a really good point that is just as applicable to Rol's back and forth about Uncharted. I mean really? Should we start comparing Mario 3D land and New Super Mario Bros? Very similar points can be made.

I think it would be more comparable to 3d marios like the galaxy games.2d marios are on another level and sub genre.

I guess, but still the same effect. To discredit Uncharted Golden Abyss for what its sold at this stage of the game is just not right, hopefully it has legs but the number of sales its racked up in such a small user base is pretty nice.

*FunFact* I played, and beat, New Super Mario Bros and HATED IT. The entire time through. It was incredibly easy but that's not my issue...it was a tutorail throughout the ENTIRE GAME. Why does it need to remind me how to access a mushroom when I'm in the last world? Because it reminds you ever time you get one. And dear god if you don't move your character for half a second before it gives you the animation as to how to use your propeller hat you've been using the whole game! Playing that game filled me with sadness as well...about the same sadness as FF XIII did.

Simplicity and easy access to new players. That's what 2d marios are good for. I found multiplayer hilarious fun with friends tpugh.

Also i wouldnt say the effect would be the same, galxy 2 and 3dland arent that far away in sales, and 3d land hasnt been that long in the market.

Galaxy 1 has double the sales, but anyway 3D land came out after the 3DS had a larger install base. Uncharted GA was a launch title.

Never had an opportunity to play with friends, guess it'd be fun but I hear bad things about the bumping eachother. The orignal 2D marios were not for the learning challenged though, it was here's our game, run jump and have fun. New SMB was a tutorial you couldn't turn off with small bits of fun in between.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

the vita hate on these forums is getting pathetic at this stage.

The fallacy here is that you're assuming anyone not liking it hated it.

what are you waffling on about?

Galaxy1 has been 4 years on sale, 3dland already is at half of that without even one year completed, and 3ds larger instal base was achieved with the function of 3dland and pricecut, 3d land was a system seller.

Also most games then were more respectful to the gamers inteligence compared to this gen, but i see your point. Yet i found NSMBW gamplay enjoyable even with he constant "tutorial", it was too easy tough and music wasnt as cool as other marios, thats my grip with it.

Yeah, Galaxy is old now. What i mean though is the 3DS had more units out there when that launched than the VIta does right now. If a new big Sony IP came out this month, say God of War as a good example, and it was a bundle, it'd sell pretty well, crazy if it was with a price drop. To go back to percentages for fun the percentage of Uncharted GA owning Vita users is about the same as 3D Land owning 3DS users. SW sales show that the average 3DS owner has bought 2 games, while Vita is still only at 1.3 games. It's really early to tell much of anything.

I understand your point but also 3dland was a system seller, have it been a launch title, while not selling what it did now, might have made 3d sales a lot better, big userbase or not, because the Mario name is still strong, even more than uncharted or even GoW. And while porcentages are a way to see things, they are misleading if comparing both games since its obvious which has sold more. I think GA sales are good, maybe better if i knew psn numbers, but compared to mario is still far behind saleswise, quality wise...would be another story.

And i think it its to early to say anything about vita's sofware and hardware sales future too, but not to say anything about its current situation, and right now that one isnt good.

Sony should get original exclusives instead of games FROM the ps3.

Yay!!!

I think that this thread was done very well, a lot of thought was put into it. All Vita needs though is that one big game. Just one of them! Gravity Rush is a fan favorite, but I do not think it was really a system seller. Was it?

It's #6 seller in Japan for SW, 70k but I saw an article saying it was 100k which could move it up the ranks. If I wasn't determined to get my Vita at launch so I could have it before vacation and get the 8gb and Super Stardust Delta, Gravity Rush would be the system seller for me. Aside from Uncharted, Gravity Rush is where it's at for must have titles.

Gravity rush, escape plan and unit 13 says hi.

Vindicated!! "but also because it [3DS] offers stronger IPs." and "Monster Hunter seems to be tied to the Nintendo 3DS at the moment, so Sony's next best bets..."

Totally align with my analysis of where...

HANG ON A MINUTE!!!!

There's no way a real analyst ever looks at anything other than USA performance. For them USA = the world. So an analyst who talks about Monster Hunter isn't a professional analyst... probably not even a real analysts. More like some sort of astute gaming fan who likes to rub Sony's nose in it at every opportunity.

Oh no, I've been Rol'd again.
