All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? It’s another glorious day in the Corps and Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has been talking up Aliens: Colonial Marines Wii U in an interview with theverge.com.

“The Wii U version has so much more to offer … no other platform can do what the Wii U can do. If you love 360 games, you are not used to being in a world where you have this new interface. But once you get used to that, you imagine the possibilities; there are some opportunities that are just not possible on any platform that does not have that device.”

Regular readers of Nintendo Gamer will be familiar with this line of chat about the Wii U controller from Pitchford. In this Randy Pitchford Aliens: Colonial Marines interview we posted a few months back he told us “We’ve been developing a number of interesting features using the unique capabilities of the controller and the hardware.”

However, in that interview he also said “Our hope at Gearbox is that the final specification for the hardware is much more powerful than the current competitive consoles.” Perhaps Pitchford’s latest rattling of the Colonial Marines Wii U sabre suggests that Gearbox have had their wish granted? Here’s hoping.

It may be that we won’t be nibbling our nails in nervous Wii U anticipation for much longer. Intheverge.com interview, Pitchford opined “I think it will not be too long [before] Nintendo opens up their kimono a little bit more about that platform and where it is going, we will be there right with them talking about how Aliens is using it.” Let’s hope it’s not Reggie that’s opening up his kimono. *shudders*

Your title is horrible.

Good luck getting comments.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

The game is in the works for 6 years now. I just want to play it, I don't care about the rest.

Been waiting for the game for years so i will just be happy if it does not suck like the long awaited duke nukem forever. And I will buy probably for PS3 if it looks good and living up to the movie franchises quality of being scary.

Edit: Barozi, please stop stealing my responeses before I finish mine, thanks.

Just so you know, before adding the last part there was no single comment.

You just contradicted yourself.

Same here. The entire Alien franchise is awesome!

Just release the damn game already GBX, I've had it pre-ordered for just about as long as it took Remedy to create Alan Wake!

Still extremely excited for this game, and I love the franchise, but I'm getting slightly impatient now...

That's the way to do things on Wii U! Great news, even if the news has nothing to do with the title!

The title -- and people in general -- get too caught up on graphics.
Given that most people have just or are just replacing their boxes with rectangles, I doubt a lot of people are going to go out and get new sets just for this generation of games. Which means improving frame rate and presentation will be key. With the tablet, you have a unique presentation -- and hence the definitive version (at least according to the people MAKING the game).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Good to see them differentiate multiplats on the Wii U as opposed to just offering the same game at a greater graphical fidelity than the PS3 and 360. That being said I'd still get it on PC.
