people need to get real
they wont put BC in it because the PS3 will still be around
but what the hell do they mean buy having to be connected to PSN to play the game?
so if my internet is down i guess i just completely cant play the game i bought right??
-_-

next year i dont know bout that for one what will happen to PS3 titles that havent released like agent, the last guardian, the last of us, and whatever FF game that comes after 13, will they be canned and released for the PS4?
i like the news about going to amd hopefully that will lead to a sony console having superior or on par 3rd party games to its competition something it hasnt had since it entered the console business
i wouldnt take all that news about its gpu being ahead of MSs or what resolutions its capable of to seriously go back to 05 and 06 you'll see there where alot of claims that werent meant on all sides
A high end GPU of today will not be in the PS4 of next year. A $500, 200 watt, 300 mm2 GPU is not going to happen.
If it is Northern Islands based, expect at best an HD 7770. The HD 7750 would be even more likely.
The rEVOLution is not being televised
Again with the anti used games rumor?...first with the next Xbox, now with the PS4.
So, guys, is this a case of 'where there´s smoke, there´s fire'?
Maybe they´ll indeed try something...brace yourselves.
sergiodaly said: now seriously... GPU could be a modified 7950 to output a max of 100 to 120 watt and CPU could go as high as 60 whatt (200 max for total, energy and temperature is key now)... 2 to 3 GB for GPU and a 1.5Gb for main... not having BC is not a deal breaker IMO... its not the case that all PS3 will stop work at the launch date of "Orbis"
Whatever it is you are smoking, I want some..
Seriously people, stop spreading those silly specs around. A console has to target the $200-$250 range, anything else is suicide.
Currently, we can roughly calc with:
$15 per 100mm^2 die area for high chip yields
$25 per 100mm^2 die area for satisfactory waver production yields
$35-$50 for unsatisfactory yields. And the 28nm nodes are currently ALL running on unsatisfactory yields (GF even has problems with its 32nm nodes), hence the high prices of all the new 28nm graphic cards).
So a (modified) 7950/680 would be around $150, add your 2-3G of GDDR ram and you are are at around $300 for the GPU (for 2012).
Add a $100-$150 (28nm) CPU, and even more ram, and the rest of your console ($100) and you can manufacture your PS4 for around $550, pointing to a $700 console. Yeah like that's gonna happen..
Don't forget to add the "The console won't run used games" rumour, it is almost mandatory now. Also use the word "stacked" a lot (as in all those GAF threads by umpteen clueless twit posts).
Seriously people, next gen consoles will have marginally more power than current consoles (and talking about "power", better GPUs don't count as "more power", they just mean you can output better pics if you want. Something has to drive those GPUs and it's not going to be gigantomanical CPUs).
yeah, not going to happen. sony are going to go cheap next gen, they have no choice.

@italics - How come adding 2-3gb of RAM costs $150? Never knew it was that expensive
@bolded - PS3 and VITA are sold at losses (PS3 was for the first 3-4 years).
@underlined - I disagree. You wanna bet?
Solid-Stark said: So it begins, PS4 will actually come out ![]() The resolution part makes this rumor seem false though, and that it wont be backwards compatible.
How does it make it false? You do know the new iPad resolution is beyond 1080p right? 2048×1536 to be exact.
No B/C isn't a surprise. The PS3 is hard to work with and the only way to have B/C would be to put the PS3 CPU and GPU into the PS4 which would raise the cost by $50-$100. I say good riddance.
ethomaz said: Why they not use te new GTX 680 generation... faster, powerfull, cooler and cheaper than any other GPU on the market.
no one uses nvidia gpus in consoles because they refuse to cut prices in any way.
also no console uses PC gfx cards, they are always custom made.
