Its not so much about gaming anymore, its now more about providing a one-stop entertainment hub for the living room/household. MS is learning from its past mistake with portable OS and such, it is being more pro active rather than reactive to changes and trends.

Once the XBox 720 comes out, 3rd party support drops though.
Unless the 720 flops and people keep buying the 360.

3rd party support will drop but it wont go away.

PS3 3rd party support = 360 3rd party support. Even if MS launches the next gen, 3rd party devs making PS3 games will still make a 360 version as well. 

Hell, maybe even the WiiU early 3rd party games will have PS3/360 ports.
