vita will pick up in the fall, its natural for sony products to take its time to sell. nintendo panic when they couldnt sell many 3ds's so they priced dropped it. I dont think sony should since its most powerful handheld in the world and got the red dot award.
Here it is.
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) has been recognized for innovative design by the prestigious red dot awards by Germany's Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen. With more than 4,500 entries from over 58 countries and regions this year, the red dot design awards reach more advocates of good design than any other design competition. Judged by an independent jury of 30 international experts, the following products were successful in winning red dot awards for design quality: PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita), Wireless Stereo Headset for PlayStation®3 (Available in North America), Wireless Keyboard for PlayStation®3, and 3D Display.
I doubt that a new FPS would be the "system-seller" that the Vita needs. A lot of people are a bit weird of the dual-analog feel. If anything, most CoD players wouldn't pick up a handheld CoD due to the analogs/feel. Sony will have to call forfeit for the Vita if they fail to deliver when E3 rolls around. Nintendo, however, definitely holds things positive for the year 3DS-wise. With AC 3D, PaperMario,Luigi's mansion.(Just picked up Uprising and it's EXCELLENT) etc... and 10+ first party exclusives for the Wii-U, it's safe to say that they make the most promising system for the most promising games. At least they learned enough from the 3DS launch to not let the Wii-U flip within it's first couple of months.

A FPS might not be a huge system seller but has the potential to be, When I was in primary school Pokemon was everywhere battling, trading ect... to have COD with Ad Hoc in your pocket would be amazing and say it catches on in schools like pokemon did it could be huge.

That ad hoc mode could be something similiar to what monster hunter's effect had on the psp.

yeah Vita sales are horrible compared to 3DS and PSP but it's not really that surprising.
PSP had the PS2 success to ride and dedicated handhelds were still pretty popular.
Vita is launching in an age where PS3 is in 3rd place, and smartphones offer free or $1 games and 3DS is already well established.
It doesn't look good for Vita. The only thing that would help it is a price cut but that needs to come with big games and those wont' come until the holidays.

So, a handheld that´s too focused on home console like games probably won´t do so hot in the West. |
Wut? Vita sales are much better in the West than in Japan based on weekly numbers....if you're looking at lifetime, remember that it launched in Japan back in December.
Looking at its current price and the fact that it's going against Nintendo... it's doing pretty good.
I thought the situation would be much worse. And I think it will start selling better, as soon as appealing games will come out.

A COD on Vita would reach a different audience than the console gamer.
Based on brand name alone, I expect COD Vita to be the best-selling Vita game this year.

The Vita is only in its fourth week in the Western markets, so it has yet to stabilize. Also, based on the size of the American and European market, the Vita should sell at least at twice the rate as in Japan. This is also why 3DS sales outside of Japan need to be considered poor at the moment. |
The 3DS sales are doing fine. So are the Vita sales in the US and Europe right now, but they are dropping very quickly, just like they did in Japan. The sales will eventually stabalize, but the number of sales wont be very good. Probably around 10k in each territory per week.
