Forums - Sony - Vita Sales outside of Japan

So let me just start this off by trying to make you all believe that I am not trying to troll by making this thread.

My personal belief is that Japan sales of the Vita are pretty terrible week to week.  However, European sales look great, and US sales look at least mediocre.   How do you feel about the sales now that the thing has been out for nearly a month outside of Japan?  Obviously Sony has to be breathing sighs of relief that it didn't bomb, but don't you think that they really wanted to hit that half million mark in 3 weeks?   And what do you think comes of this?  Price cuts, massive announcements of AAA titles at E3?

I for one see price cuts in Vita's future, honestly on the same time frame that 3DS saw, like July, August.  I think this because I see Sony wanting to get this thing in as many people's hands as possible before the holiday season so that word of mouth advertising surrounding whatever they release then drives HUGE holiday sales, much like 3DS did with Mario Kart and 3D Land.

It seems fine right now. It will need some big software for the holidays though if its going to be a real success

Time for hype

You can tell Sony was worried about the sales in the Western hemisphere. They had lost hope it seems with their Japanese audience and the US audience seems like it might go the same way, Europe seems really good right now for Sony though.
They need to release some titles that will appeal to people in all the territories for sales to pick up again.

I dont know if this will help save the vita but maybe people are waiting for a good FPS or something with a great online mode, Ive beatin and platinumed Uncharted and for my tastes theres nothing else out there. A great online MP game will keep the Vita in my pocket.

stolen from Neogaf:

Vita sold 66k in one month in France;.

Economic newspaper Les Echos just revealed this sales figure for Vita: http://www.lesechos.fr/entreprises-s...ois-304887.php

:
PSP sold 80K during its 1st week on the french market.

117K Vita games have been sold so far.

3DS sold 874K so far, and outsold Vita last week (7K vs 5K).

Edit: and yeah I know it is almost cherry picking but France is still a big market in EU and Vita is not doing that well.

Vita definitely has the hardware to be successful, they just need more important games. Games that make people want to buy a new system. I'm a huge Sony fan but honestly, nothing on the Vita right now looks that great to me. Uncharted is one that stands out a bit, but it's not enough to make me buy a new system.

until Sony starts to makes moves on Vita which I won't expect to start until E3 Vita sales are doing just fine world wide

Gamers in the West don´t seem too willing to embrace a handheld that´s full of home console like games...Japanese gamers, since they´ve been leaving home consoles behind in favor of handhelds, seem more willing to buy and play handheld games that would be better suited to the big screen.

So, a handheld that´s too focused on home console like games probably won´t do so hot in the West.

It'll be a rough ride in the coming months. Worldwide they need Japan on board, no doubt. 3DS's sales outside of Japan are nothing to jump up and down about considering the price. So it'll be interesting to see where the Vita sales level out in Europe and America.

Price, Price, Price...

oh yeah Price!

SOAAAAAAAAAAP!

It's just that simple.
