If the power is the same, how you would "uprez"ing be possible. The quote has internal inconsitencies.

Also, how powerful will games have to be next time around? If you build too much' you can overshoot the market and the pricepoint. Still about one home in three does not have an HD Tv in the US and it has the highest penetration rate in the world. So going to 2048p that no one can see buys you nothing.

From what I understand, many current games struggle with HD and fall into the 560p range, just above SD. Meanwhile, the WiiU supposedly does 1080p or 720p on screen and 480p on controller. If it holds 60fps and uses industry standard elements, it should be fine.

If not, maybe Nintendo will be bold and start buying all the third party studios. 8*>

Just have to correct you here; this is not so. Norway, for instance, had around 45% HDTV penetration in early 2008, this number has likely risen to well above 70% (hovers just under 80% according to Elektronikkgruppen) today. Much the same can be said about Sweden and Denmark and most of western Europe has a higher rate than 50-60% as well (UK and Germany in particular). Not to mention Japan, they have had HD broadcasts since 1990 and one can only imagine their percentage... Australia also has a massive penetration rate, I think perhaps the highest in the world right now.

As a major global region, I'm sure the US has the highest but there are several individual nations who have higher rates.

Otherwise, I largely agree with the rest of your post and, indeed, your main point.

What's more amazing is how supposedly lifelong Nintendo fans only appreciate games like Super Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess.

Uhh... What?

As a Nintendo fan you cannot dislike recent titles of their franchises?

This guy says 'you know' an awful lot. EDIT: Oh, I see that's been mentioned before.

I appreciate many types of game, and have owned various different consoles over the years (see games list). Other than not being an FPS person, I'd say I've played various different types of game over the years, certainly enough to have an opinion.

Are you going to tell me with a straight face, that the Wii has an illustrious selection of games for all tastes and I'm completely delusional?

Too much planning, and you'll never get anything done.

It's funny when people say the Wii aren't winning this gen.  They are winning this gen!!  In football if one team has more talent then the opposition, but the opposition team wins then they won.  It doesn't matter who has more talent, what matters is who wins.  The goals for a company is to collect profits, gain market share and sell more then their competition.  The Wii didn't have the best 3rd party support, but they are still winning with less talent in some people's eyes anyways.  I think the Wii's 1st party games are fun as hell personally.  I like them enough to purchase a Wii.  But my grandma has one so I'm good just playing it at her house.

And this is what they said in August:

"Asked if Darksiders II will be best on Wii U, Adams said: "Yeah, just because the hardware is more powerful and it will have some extra features that I think will actually be useful to people playing the game. With it's controller, [the Wii U version of Darksiders II] might be the best version of the game."

On another note, imo going the "Sony route" is dumb. They were lucky with the PS2, but this time it has been more a problem than an asset.

Marvin and Adams need to sit down together in order to make similar statements. Its great PR having different employees say something and completely backtrack a few months later.  No one will take you seriously if you contentiously contradict yourself.

I say that you are clearly overstating your status of Nintendo loyalty. Since you are so in love with the SNES, it logically follows that you have problems with Nintendo for three generations already. What your incomplete games collection tells me is that Zelda seems to be the main reason why you kept bothering with Nintendo at all through all these years.

In fairness, you are right there; I have had critical things to say about Nintendo during the last three generations. This does not mean I don't love and treasure the essence of what Nintendo is about, despite feeling a bit let down by the Wii.

My incomplete game collection is incomplete, largely because the system for adding games seems a bit tempremental and a lot of my faves appear to just not be on there, a lot of old stuff is missing.  If anything, it has been the Mario and Mario Kart games that have kept me running back to the big N, as well as Zelda. I certainly couldn't care less for Pokemon et al.

As for overstating loyalty, as time moves on I have started to question the concept of blind, enduring loyalty to one company. However, I will always buy nintendo consoles in the spirit of hope, even if they're second consoles.

I do not deny being very much in love with the SNES, and indeed the SNES/Megadrive era. There is no shame in that, surely.

Truth be told, David Adams is the General manager of Vigil (so nothing to do with development) while Marvin Donald is the director of the game. So Donald probably knows more about it.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

hmm chase me looks better than DS2 they are just being lazy devs as usual

so the system is an par but it renders stuff in 1080p?

if they go with 720 then the results will be drastically different.
