The original is still the best selling Resident Evil

Nope, if you combine the original, on saturn, PS, GC Remake you get like 6.6 million

If you combine Resident evil 5 360, and PS3 you get like 7.7 million.

VGC has no PC stats for either.

You're leaving out the directors cut. And since RE5 sales include the gold edition its only fair. And Directors cut has 3.7 million copies sold.

It's not 1996 anymore.

You ever think that action/shooter games are so dominant is because thats all the crap companies churn out.

forgot about that. But yes you're right. It's sold probably around 10 million combined (math in my head).

Well i hope RE:6 will be better then that travisty Recoon city.

That's really the root of it. Cliche as it may sound, Nintendo proves there's room for megahits outside games with guns (shooting sandbox games like GTA, FPSes, TPSes, or hybrid TPSes like Uncharted or Metal Gear), but no-one else seems to have any creativity to create a megahit that doesn't involve shooting stuff, so they all just pile in.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I have a feeling that RE5 did some damage to the RE name (even though sales might indicate otherwise), not only for us (forum goers),but also in the mainstream market.

I think that if R6 is more like R4, then the market will easily forgive the mistakes made on RE5, because for me, RE4 is the ideal formula for the series. We'll see.

Resident Evil 6 -- A group of US marines fighting off hoardes of Afghan zombies. Main character is bald and tattooed and has a "bad attitude". Served some time in jail a few years back. That what you want Capcom?

Seriously though didn't Capcom sorta have a "more action oriented" zombie series in Dead Rising? They should have put more effort into the sequel, but now the "Last of Us" is probably going to corner that market.

I like the original formula so much better, they can still refine it like they were planning to do with RE4 originally with a moving camera. It doesn't need to be pre-rendered backrounds to get the same effect obviously.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

i really miss the original RE style as well as other games like enemy zero. Companies are always opting for action over suspense though, i guess that's how the film industry works most of the time too. I'd much rather watch Alien than Aliens.

They're right. See Revelations. It's a shame it's selling so poorly.
It should already be a million seller.
It's sad, but they are right.
