4) I HATE those video ads with audio! They suck major balls! I don't wanna hear that shit!
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

It may seem like the members don't care about this site anymore, but in fact it's its creator who never really cared about his site members.

What attracted me to begin with was the sales data, but quickly got involved in a few threads (mostly about Nintendo). I have 3 points I'd like to bring up: 1) I agree with most of you: the forum is waaay to divided to navigate with ease: I only follow the hot topics... 2) I really don't have anything new to say, so I don't start new threads. I don't feel like can add something to the discussion, and if I did I'd probably get trolled in one way or another... 3) I don't like the new design for when you're trying to find sales data for a game. A few month ago they redesigned bits of this site, right? I find it much harder to navigate the topics on a game. Like, if I wanted to see the sales of a certain game, and then rate it and stuff like that. |
That's probably a great issue. No matter what you say there's almost always someone to shoot down or troll on your opinion. People may keep their opinions to themselves and fear expressing them, as a result.

That's what adbock plus is for
I have been here looking since 2007. Although i didn`t post i did read threads here and there and remember how people really look to have fun here. There really were some users who stood out back then and honestly, people had fun because they had conversations, casual or more in depth, people talked like they talked to their friends.
Nowdays people don`t have conversations, they have scientifical debates over everything. In more ways than one, this forum has lost that empathy and honestly that`s a shame.

I'm a vita fan, I own one, I've never been to the official thread. But what does this have to do with anything in this thread? |
Well, it's obvious. The main purpose of this site/forum should be to talk sales. Good talks, fun talks, analytical talks and (yeah, heavens forbid) some doom here and there - everybody likes a little unharmful, unpersonal doom. Sales is what diferentiates this site from the rest. Sales and users for a lot of us - but from a newbie point of view, sales only. VGChartz should be the place to go in the whole internet when sales are concerned.
I know there are a lot of reasons for the lack of interest in those threads nowadays. But now, when a new gen is starting, when things are becoming heated again, and sales matter more, no talk can be achieved when simply most of the vocal Vita's fans simply abandon the sales threads. Who cares if your console is not doing how you think should be doing, I say be a VGCharter and talk sales, give your point of view or make fun of the situation - or simply weep or predict better days, but contribute. Those threads should have 600 posts +, not struggle to get to 100. This is not a critic to Vita's fans only, but for now, the site needs them most, I think.
I love VGChartz, but more and more it's simply losing it's main characteristic. I've been here for a long time, but only recently started posting, I swear, to try to contribute and put a little more weight in some sales threads - especially my greatest interest, japanese sales.

I understand where your getting at but really how are we suppose to "help" the new members, are we suppose to take them under our wing and train them? I just don't understand how we help a user make good threads or post. When I started in VG Chartz I was posting and making threads the same way as I do now. For example one of my first threads was titled "PS3 software will equals Wii" and believe me at the time I wrote that people thought I was nuts, pretty funny comments reading them now, trestres - " Never gonna happen. There's no possible scenario other than that of Wii stopping selling all of a sudden. " lol it's possible now but anyway WAAAAY off topic. Back to my point the user makes the user, we need some individuals not abunch of people copying users. Imagine having a bunch of users similar to Rol and Darth we need only the one, that's what makes us unique, the newer user just has to break out and create there own persona with VG Chartz. "I think there should be a reason for the lurkers to join this forum over countless other forums on the web. The trolling is at an all time high at the moment. A lot of Sony fans have left the site or have become extremely inactive now cuz of it. We saw a similar situation post E3 of the 3ds reveal. The sony forums were absolute shit with trolling topics and posts. Quite a few posters over there who used to post a LOT and some who were the reason I joined this place, just left. I don't think the trolling to that bad (although I don't got he Nintendo and Microsoft forum so I don't know what it's like there" but there's not really an excesse amount of trolling just lack of threads imo, there's like 1 or 2 threads every few hours, use to be a lot more but really this is a very slow time of the year nothing new or exciting is coming out around now. It should hopefully pick up within the next few months. "And now I'm gonna say something that has been on my mind for a while and I hope I won't be ticking people off with this. There is a fundamental problem with this site in my view. This place is built around the tracking of sales but I see two current problems with it This is true and I'm honestly nto sure what they can do, I'm sure they have a plan. The new site design provides some pretty interesting features about games, it might help the site hopefully. Why thank you I do what i can, and I agree Montanas always been a great user. I to await to see what E3 brings *crosses fingers for new consoles!*. He does this from time to time it's more then likely school related, though he has been gone for a while he should be back this summer when schools out. "ps: oh and a request, maybe for the future revisions of this site, bring back stickys! At least 2-3 stickys per forum" Apparently they are coming back, I made a thread about this and Seece mentioned it's coming with the new site I guess. |

It also got to a point, like another user said in this thread where new users were not exactly welcomed.
They were not activley targeted and discouraged to post but the general attitude by a lot of older members was....this is our site, we are a tightly knit circle of friends!
At that point I started to lose interest and did post on that subject, which I'm sure is still there if someone can be bothered to look.
Whether the site is still like this I don't know as I don't interact that much, but in any case it is a shame because the site 'was' something really different.
