Forums - Website Topics - Have the members/guest online dropped significantly?

Of course there are more doom threads and posts for Vita than for the 3DS. It's numbers are lower! It's predessesor had some terrible numbers before it. And it lost simply its greatest exclusive - in what, imo, was the biggest megaton ever, as one game crippled a whole sales region!

So, sorry for the caps, OF COURSE Vita WILL have more doom and gloom around it than the 3DS. It's not VGChartz fault - or yours, or mine. It's Sony's! And it's Sony's responsability to shut up everyone and make them swallow their words.

Vita fans are becoming such victims here, literaly excluding themselves from the main purpose of this site, secluding themselves in no sales-wonderland - the official thread. If a console is going to succeed or fail, it won't change with that, you just have to be a sportsman about it and even play with it. I said this before, hardly anyone is saying anything about vita's qualities (both in hardware and released software), and if they are they are frankly, idiots. But what's the problem in saying bad things about sales?

I basically been here since the get go.

I personally miss the old forums. There is too much bullshit on the home page and advertisements up the ASSHOLE. Forum buddy is not my buddy, pal. Who are all these new fucks I don't know? Is SSJ12 still a virgin?
What is the meaning of life? I can keep going... Soriku is like 37 now. Leo J is now a gang member, with his bad ol self. What teh fuk is going on!? You newbie's-tweens just don't know!!



Nowadays VgChartz its just kinda like dicking around with out a dick.


Err maybe it's because I don't have as much time of recent so im like fuck the newer layout of this site...

Maybe I see it from an original members persepective and just don't like any change but to me it does now seem like many other faceless, run of the mill gaming sites, unlike before when it seemed to have something different to offer.

The sad thing here is however, the more this trolling and nonsensical hate goes on, the higher the chance ninty fans will have to face the same in the future, especially when the wiiu launches. It's never gonna end without some extremely strict moderatation.

Anywho this is just how see the current situation. I appreciate the support mods have shown the official thread by helping us to keep it clean.

1. Can you really do that with many people? There is a particular user who just won't listen to anyone currently, and his bans and moderations are becoming more frequent.

2. Please, stop it.

I am not kidding myself, the trolling the 3DS got was huge, I still remember the "lolol 3DS outsells Wii in Japan!" by you in every Media Create thread back in 2011. Just because you like the Vita better, it doesn't mean the trolling rate is bigger. And I remember a lot of hype for the Vita, and a lot of doomed threads for the 3DS.

I am not saying the 3DS gets more hate, but that it does get hate, and a lot, and you fail to see that. Both consoles get smashed. WiiU will get trolled, PS4 will, 720 will. And you will have to accept the fact Sony fans have flaws too. As do Nintendo fans.

3. As a suggestion, please use CAPS properly, because the way you post does make you look like you're raging.

Edit: Also, about the German thread, everyone can have their own opinion, and while it is unfair if people complain about Vita getting the award, it's not bad if people say they disagree or if they do not like the Vita's design.

ugh either you have bad memory or very selective memory. I am one of those who kept saying the system will do just fine with a little time. Go look it up ( what's so lol about 3ds outselling the wii in Jp? :S)

a lot of hype for the vita? Trust me when I say I followed the system way way closer than you and no. The sony forums were plagued with trolling by ninty fans. Again by all means feel free to look up threads from the post 3ds E3 and Vita reveal days.

I couldn't care less about what paranoid people may think about silly things like smileys, capslock etc etc. Reading too much into those things is just being naive on the internet and nothing I can do to help it

that thread was about vita, and an achievement it got. But then it was filled with butthurt comments and dragging other consoles into the picture. Was not needed. it's like me coming into a 3ds award thread and pointing out how flawed the design is and how deserving other systems are over it. I do not care for such things. good news for 3ds? Knock yourself out and enjoy it

anywho I'm done here I said my piece, I had enough arguments with overly defensive ninty fans on this site. Before pointing the finger at others, I suggest you do the same to yourself. Sony forums have almost NO vita related thread without snide and troll comments from nintendo fans of this site. I can find plenty for 3ds without sony fans not caring at all or being supportive. I'm not saying sony fans or ms fans are perfect. But the nintendo fans, especially some news ones, have taken trolling to a new level and people are leaving the sony sections cuz of it. Anywho I'm done and I am thinking I shouldn't have even bothered posting in this thread now.

To me honestly one of the other reasons the forums haven't been quite as exciting................though I hate to admit it.........is we don't have some of the crazy creative trolls / shit starters we used to have.

Remember the days Crazzyman was makine litteraly insane predicitions? When Leo-J was in his prime just bashing stuff left and right, then getting banned, then coming back for more epic bashing, then getting banned again, etc. Kirby just being.................well Kirby.

Or even not that long ago when Selnor would just make rediculous over the top THIS GAMEZ IS GRAPHIXZ KING threads?

Granted at times guys like Leo-J and Crazzyman could be cumbersome to argue with but that shiz was fun. Also I agree with the point that other guy made earlier. A lot of the newer members don't devote large amounts of time on here racking up Points, Friends, Badges, Posts, etc. They just stop in for maybe 20 minutes a day, post a few brief things and bail. Which there's nothing wrong with that at all it just makes the community feel different.

Personally I haven't been active on VGC for a long time since I've become so busy with college. I just haven't found time to commit to VGC like previously. During the summer breaks though that's when I could probably come back as a regular.

I still do come check weekly sales data once in a while to see how PS3 games and PS Vita is performing these days.

I'm a vita fan, I own one, I've never been to the official thread. But what does this have to do with anything in this thread?

I think there should be a reason for the lurkers to join this forum over countless other forums on the web. The trolling is at an all time high at the moment. A lot of Sony fans have left the site or have become extremely inactive now cuz of it. We saw a similar situation post E3 of the 3ds reveal. The sony forums were absolute shit with trolling topics and posts. Quite a few posters over there who used to post a LOT and some who were the reason I joined this place, just left.

I have personally stuck to the Official PSV thread and I enjoy it. We already had few new members who signed up just to post in the thread and we have something of a community going on inside the thread itself. The launch of a new console should be a REASON to light things up a bit. Discussing various games that's out for it, the features etc etc would have helped a great deal to this site imho. But as shown very clearly with that german award for vita thread, no decent conversation can be had outside the official thread and it's a real shame.

And now I'm gonna say something that has been on my mind for a while and I hope I won't be ticking people off with this. There is a fundamental problem with this site in my view. This place is built around the tracking of sales but I see two current problems with it

1. All the regions that tracked accurately, are also tracked by even more popular and widely accepted tracking agencies. For example: USA/Aussy: NPD, JP: Mediacreate and EU: Ninty and that other firm that tracks sales (forgot the name)
2. We had some huge adjustments. And I do not blame the staff, you have to make them when more concrete information comes out. But this with the addition of the above mentioned factor, does not bode well for the popularity of this site.

I'm EXTREMELY happy to see Gilga back..from the day he came back he has started make good threads and increase the overall activity of members. Montana seems to be doing a great job the moderation front as well. So I sincerely hope these trends keep up. These are relatively slow game news times as well so come E3 things should get more lively.

and someone please go hunt down darth and drag his ass in here

ps: oh and a request, maybe for the future revisions of this site, bring back stickys! At least 2-3 stickys per forum

I agree theres too much hate on new comers in general. Anyone looking to contribute, only to find himself constantly blamed for the sites problems will feel unwanted, and will in return be more likely to leave.

I agree with the fact that the forums are clunky .. I almost exclusively use the "hot threads" on the front page to find threads that might be of interest.

On another note, The ads have become pretty bad. I sometimes have 3 Video Ads WITH AUDIO playing at the SAME TIME(In just one tab).. Imagine if I use multiple tabs.. That's pretty frustrating... No, that's really frustrating. I purposely don't use adblock on this site, but stuff like that, really makes me want to turn it on :P

 

Also 2-3.0 were the best if you ask me :P (the old 2.0 and 3.0)

Well, I'm one of those infamous new comers here: I signed up just this year! What attracted me to begin with was the sales data, but quickly got involved in a few threads (mostly about Nintendo). I have 3 points I'd like to bring up:
1) I agree with most of you: the forum is waaay to divided to navigate with ease: I only follow the hot topics...
2) I really don't have anything new to say, so I don't start new threads. I don't feel like can add something to the discussion, and if I did I'd probably get trolled in one way or another...
3) I don't like the new design for when you're trying to find sales data for a game. A few month ago they redesigned bits of this site, right? I find it much harder to navigate the topics on a game. Like, if I wanted to see the sales of a certain game, and then rate it and stuff like that.
