Rol is correct. This is going overboard. I would certainly trim down on people attempting to flaunt the rules, but not redefine the rules themselves because of that flaunting. Seems the lazy way out to me.

I don't understand the outrage of some of the users? I mean, it's one thing to be a little put off by the new rule, it's quite another to go on some emotional tirade.

You can't use certain images, anymore. Who gives a fuck? People who change their avatars every 5 minutes, to be some other generic topless chick completely misunderstand the point of an avatar anyway.

As for signatures? Worst thing about forums, full stop. They add nothing to discussion, are usually hideously ugly/large, unfunny, and just a waste of valuable bandwidth.

It's to parody the situation, not get a mod's attention. I usually have a Phineas avatar, anyway. I want to keep it this way in memory of the avatars of days past, though (see signature).

No, I don't recognise your name. Well, I didn't, until this thread.

The point of avatars is simply representation and recognition. It's far easier to remember a picture than a name. And you tend to learn the names of those with consistent avatars.

Typically, if I enter a thread with 40+ posts, I don't bother to read it unless I recognise the avatars of some of my favourite users in a quick scroll down.
