Forums - Website Topics - New Avatar & Sig Rules

Wait... I know this will never happen on this site... but theoretically... if a girl signs up on this site.. she can't post a semi sexy picture of herself? we wouldn't allow that?

Wait... I thought we had girls on here, but we got them to leave because we were so disgusting with all the stuff we have for avatars and signatures...

I don't really see what peoples problem with this is. It's plenty easy to find websites dedicated to NSFW content, I don't see why this website (which is about games) needs to have NSFW or borderline NSFW stuff on every page.

So where does it stop , next we will have ex alcoholics wanting your avatar banned .

All joking aside, I open this site frequently at work and there have been many times I have to scroll the screen to be sure some random user's avatar isn't showing just in case.

While this isn't an issue in some countries, in the US we can get in serious trouble for things like half naked people.. in bikinis etc. Kind silly, but yeah it can happen.

yeah and i can get in serious trouble if someone at my work will see that i'm on a forum about cartmans and so on so please stop having comic characters, cars, skyscrapers, clouds or bicyles as an avatar as long as i'm surfing for private things at work... or hmmm maybe i just could stop doing that at work because i don't get paid for that? yeah that would be a fair solution!

LOL its not my fault your work sucks. Also, there are things called breaks and lunches where anyone should be allowed to as they wish.

But having a female boss walk up behind me and see a half naked chic/man on screen would cause a lot of explaining and potentially offend her. Its just not that big of a deal. Personally, your's is fine, but many recently with few other users have been completely different.

what a pointless rule.
i can understand genitals or nipples showing but cleavage? i mean.. come on! get real.

Here's a simpler solution to satisfy the minority who doesn't want to have NSFW avatars displayed (or rather what they perceive to be NSFW): Implement an option to not show avatars, just like there is already one for signatures. That is all.

this is what should happen not knee jerk reactions  with rules that read like some one said  lets try to cover everything and by having ambiguous wording like "posing in a sexual manner even if fully clothed" we can interpret that how ever we want.

Two things.

1) Lenny is drinking out of a water bottle. Recovering alcoholics are not offended by water, in fact they often drink it.

2) Your slippery slope argument is without base as there is no indication that there is any need for the rules to become stricter than they now are.

I come here from my job in an office with mostly women and have never been embarrassed about the avatars. Most of the women actually are a bunch of flirts and could give a crap about people having a sense of sexuality. If your embarrassed than you must work at a very conservative place and be overly worried about what your co-workers think. I cannot be on all day obviously, but I work with adults.

Edit: At the people wondering why people would be on here at work it is probably because I work on a computer most of the day.
