Going to buy FE retail. Only bought NSMB2 digital and probably Animal Crossing will be the only other retail game that I buy digital on the 3DS.  I have a 32 GB card that still has plenty of space even with a decent amount of games and songs on it.

Resident Evil: Mercenaries & Monster Hunter 3G coming as digital downloads in Japan, Capcom VP: you can expect these titles to come to the North American e-shop in the future too.

Nintendo's Wii gets Amazon Instant Video

Playing catch-up with Wii U, Nintendo's older gaming console now gets the video-streaming service.

Those consumers who don't want to upgrade from the Nintendo Wii to Wii U just yet but still want to get video streaming for their console are in luck. Amazon announced today that its Instant Video service is now available on the Wii.

"Amazon Instant Video is now playing on your Nintendo Wii," the video service wrote on its Web page. "Start watching over 140,000 movies and TV episodes today. Prime members can also watch thousands of these videos at no additional cost."

Nintendo recently upped its streaming game with the debut of its newest console, Wii U. Besides Amazon Instant Video, the console has Netflix, Hulu Plus, and YouTube. However, before today Amazon streaming wasn't available on earlier iterations of the gaming console.

It's clear that extending console functionality beyond gaming and into an entertainment system has been a goal of Nintendo's for the past couple of years. It's interesting to see that the company is now spreading this goal to its earlier products.

Besides the Wii and Wii U, Amazon Instant Video is also available on a number of other devices including Microsoft's Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, Roku streaming players, Apple's iPad, Amazon's Kindle Fire, and dozens of HDTVs, Blu-ray players, and set-top boxes.

Club Nintendo Accounts Can't Be Linked To The Wii Shop On Wii U

Posted Tue, 15 Jan 2013 | 19:00 GMT by Andy Green

Reward coins only available on a Wii console

"Certain system constraints" punishing gamers

As you may already be aware the Wii U eShop can be linked up to your Club Nintendo account. This means that when you purchase a game it is automatically registered and you may become eligible for surveys, which allow you to earn some coins.

However it appears that games bought from the Wii Shop — via the Wii Mode — on Wii U are not eligible for surveys and coins, even though the very same games bought from a Wii console are.

The reasons for this are unclear at the moment, with Nintendo stating the following in its Club Nintendo FAQ section:

Due to certain system constraints, Club Nintendo accounts cannot be linked to the Wii Shop on the Wii U. Games downloaded through the Wii Shop on the Wii U (in Wii mode) do not qualify for surveys or Coins.

Nintendo is working towards bringing the Virtual Console to the Wii U eShop itself, with a view to allowing all games to be played on the GamePad alone. It's strange, however, that gamers are currently being punished in this way for transferring their Wii gaming to Wii U.

What are your thoughts on this? Has this affected you? Let us know in the comments section below.

Thanks to Ryan Millar for the tip

US Embassy launches Nintendo Wii to promote English language learning

MALACCA: The Lincoln Resource Centre of the United States Embassy Kuala Lumpur today launched the "Nintendo Wii" for English language learning at the Malacca State Library, here, to promote educational gaming and English language learning at public libraries.

US embassy Press and Information officer Harvey Sernovitz said the Malacca State Library was the first Malaysian library to offer the Nintendo Wii.

"The device (Nintendo Wii) allows users to experience motion-controlled, interactive gaming and explore American culture through puzzles, games and adventures in the interactive world," he told reporters at the launching in Bukit Baru, here.

Also present were Malacca State Library Board deputy chairman Datuk Mustazah Othman and Malacca State Library director Mohamed Aizammuddy Mohamed Idris.

The Lincoln Resource Centre also introduced the US government-designed Trace Effects, a three-D English language video game experience to promote learning the language in a fun and interactive way.

"Nintendo Wii introduction will be further expanded to eight other public libraries throughout Malaysia in stages," Sernovitz said.

Mustazah said the US embassy had initiated the setting up of the Lincoln's corner at the Melaka library in 2003 which had quality American library materials in printed as well as non-printed forms.

"I hope Nintendo Wii will benefit students and society at large to keep improving their English language proficiency using the facilities available at the library here," he said. -- BERNAMA

Bump!

Here's a couple of news that may interest some people

1-Nintendo will change the publishing rules of the eShop titles, and the will announce it soon (the new Nintendo Direct perhaps?). Why do I say this? Because if this news:

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/387512/nintendo-expected-to-end-restrictions-on-bedroom-coders/?cid=OTC-RSS&attr=CVG-News-RSS

An executive at Nintendo America has signalled the company's intention to ease restrictions on indie games developers who want to work with the platform holder.

Presently, Nintendo's digital publishing guidelines dictate that a games developer must have a registered company and studio space to be given the chance to develop games for the Wii U or 3DS.

This restriction placed on start-up and obscure developers has triggered criticisms from various self-employed developers hat are not eligible to work with Nintendo. In 2011 the company sparked controversy by claiming that it wasn't keen on working with 'garage' developers until they had a reasonable track record for making games.

But there are new signs that Nintendo is ready to bring an end to this rule. In a discussion on Twitter, quality assurance analyst Hany Gohary asked Nintendo of America's business development executive Dan Adelman whether the "bedroom coder ban" still applies today, to which he replied: "Ask me again in a couple weeks."

2-Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate (they could have gone with a shorter title...) will last 20h. At least, that's what the latest video says...

Please excuse my bad English.

BumpU!

Who still thinks the leaked list on Miiverse is not true?
If you don`t remember what i am talking about, check it out: http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/10858/article/wii-u-debug-mode-leaks-yoshi-s-land-wii-u-and-soul-hackers/

The list is from 19th Nov, 2012 and so far here are the games confirmed or out:
Zombie (ZombiU)
Wii Fit (Wii Fit U)
Resident Evils (RE Revelations)
Super Mario Wii U (both NSMB U and the new one)
Dragon Quest 10

Weird coincidence, right? ;)

To be announced:
Metroid
Donkey Kong
Flipnote Studios
Soul Hackers
Metal Gear Solid
Final Fantasy 3

Metroid and Dk? Check!
Flipnote studio? Given the gamepad... check!

Soul hackers, MGS and FF 3 are the ones that may or note happen.
Could FF 3 be a remake a la DQ 7 for 3DS?

Any thoughts?

The list contained some names of popular series and some games long known (ZombiU, Dragon Quest) in production for Wii U. It is ridicolous to think that it was a list of real games. It was only a fake list for testing purposes.
