I was thinking more or less the same number as you.

But the game has 90 voice-actors, 45 songs and 45 playable characters + tons of cameos... it's becoming huge!

I think it can be the next Super Robot Wars maybe bigger, that's why I upped the number

it really looks like a game that coould sell shitloads in Japan tbh, but its hard to imagine even such a Japan oriented game selling close to DQM...

DQ Monster number will grow. And Square was  dumb enough to let the game sell-out.

That number for this game is lifetime sales, not first week

I mean, how can a game that has Ulala, Space Harrier and (yours truly <-- ) Opa-opa on the same screen not be a resounding success
